Oh dear god, we're actually getting database queries now:

"Oh I'm looking for the lever that releases all the animals"
"Hang on a sec we've got five of those, let me get the record book... alright we've got one that causes a catsplosion, one that releases the tigermen, one that unseals all the forgotten beasts in the caverns, another which releases all the tigermen and then finally one that releases them all collapses the fortress and sets off half a dozen magma bombs"
"Nah, none of those, think I might check the other one"

Actually I think the one you're talking about is the one I called 'a set of grates down in the caverns'. There were a bunch of three-by-one spaces with grates on either end, one side over magma and the other over water. Someone also walled in a bunch of dwarves, who the first month or so of my turn was devoted to saving. I'm pretty sure that the magma that's overflowing in the caverns is indeed from there, if that's the case.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

the screen shot seems to support that theory

EDIT: Misquote  :-[
EDITx2:

oh and i think that the "drain-o-death" is the cause for the dwarves in the caverns.

Yeah.  Thus why I didn't make a trap.  In it's current state the fortress didn't need a trap, the whole damn fortress is a trap.

But there shouldn't BE any dwarves in the caverns. I'm not sure exactly why that thing's even overflowing, magma can't be pressurized, right? I should just stop being lazy and check out the save myself...

magma can be pressurized if screw pumps are used.

...even if the magma's being dropped from a height? If so, then that explains why the fortress started flooding so quickly.

yep, pumps will keep pumping until the level of liquid is equal to the level of the pumps.

that's why we're able to create magma landmines and chambers where magma bubbles up from beneath the floor grates.

ive gotten in the habit of replacing my chief medical dwarf as soon as he gains any notable skill in diagnosis.
It's really funny watching them do unnecessary surgery because of a wrong diagnosis.
the conditions were bad enough to turn a dwarf who didn't care about anything mad, that's pretty hardcore.

It's a really tiny dining room absoulutely filled with tables, only problem that the way in is blocked by an indoor pool ???

I belive I've found the cause of all the "a masterpiece has been destroyed message"
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Someone decided to pimp out our...uhh...I'm guessing it was a furniture stockpile or something, since there's just so much stuff in there but I'm not sure...

On the plus side I've replaced all the dead brokers and bookkeepers etc. and if we have any smiths left alive i'll start making some steel gear.

Ok, the hairy stegosourus stalkeb decided to drop by (like we didn't have 'nuff of em alrdy) so... you got any plans for him? Kill him? Capture him? Leave him for the next guy to deal with? I'm voting for #3 :P since 1&2 could result in more fun then we can handle ;)

Also there are a massive amount of pressure plates in the sleeping quarters(that I apperantly missed), I don't have a clue what they are for but since I didn't notice them before now the damage is probably alrdy dealt :-\

The pressure plates were mine, but they (probably) don't work. If they did work, you'd be underwater by now.

Well since you put them in induvidual rooms and most dwarves are dead the chances of it being triggered weren't that high ;)
