Argh, curses! I lost to the last form of the flagship by 1 point of it's health! I was so close. Oh well, no big deal, I honestly didn't expect my ship to get that far in the first place, so it getting as far as it did is still pretty good.

Also, breach bombs are ridiculously effective. I highly recommend it for anyone that has a ship with poor shield piercing abilities.

On abandoned things. I can't recall what kind of abandoned things, but it's definitely on something abandoned. There should be a cryro pod if you've got the right one: Grab it, forget the weapons.

Then, you have to hope for one of those scientist station events. If you get it, boom, Crystal crewmember.

Goddammit, I'm addicted already.

But hey, I'm in Sector 5 on my first Easy game, and I just bought a Teleporter for my resident Rockman and Mantis.  Except the Mantis is the only qualified shieldman on board, so the poor human I replaced him with and stuck in the Oxygen room on guard duty gets to go board ships instead.

Ion Bomb rules man.

The bio-beam is a death sentence.  Once I have it I want to use it and when I try to use it I end up taking way more damage than I have any business taking, and end up having to destroy the enemy ship anyway.  I also got the stealth cruiser but I don't like it.

I had the same experience with the Glaive laser.  Takes so much energy and so long to charge that I can't do anything else, and however much damage it does to the hull it doesn't seem to do much to actual systems.

Boarding has it's problems too, as I've discovered.  At least my Anti-Personnel drone ensures my own safety.  I suppose with higher recharge I could get more guys into the scrum.

I actually used the Glaive to great effect on the default Kestral. Use the standard burst laser to wear the shields down, then follow up with the beam o' death. Even if the shields begin coming back, the Glaive has enough power to punch right through, and if you use it on the shield room it usually means that the enemy ship will have fewer shield points to defend against the burst laser, and so on and so forth. Still didn't kill the boss :P

And yeah, the bio-beam was massively disappointing. I should have sold it for an additional laser or something.

I finally beat the last boss!

Combination of boarding, ion blasts, missiles, flame weapon, and the boss running out of drones.  I ended up losing my two awesome boarders in the final explosion, though.  They died as heros T.T

edit: holy crap, my mantis boarder is my #1 combat killer.  31 kills in one game.  Rest in peace, Jose, you maniac.

Argh. I died on form two of the last boss. I just got lasered to death.

Also, that ion weapon with the really low cooldown has to be the best way to train your weaponsman.

It's also probably why the Engi cruiser is so far my favorite ship.

Beat the boss for the first time; was stupidly easy. Heres a couple of screenies.

Glaive laser worked well for me (had a blast II + Ion self teleporter bomb + glaive) - just ion the weapon system, fire the blast (so shields are down) and you can easily place the laser to do 10+ dmg on any ship.

Rebel flagship was down after 2 and a half shots

It's not THAT difficult, I would say, but he probably never ever used missiles. Once I got the Burst Laser II or something or other on the Engi Cruiser, I only used it and the Ion weapon. I had sold easily 30 missiles throughout the game and the rest were used as futile attempts to bomb the enemy into submission. Which doesn't work too well. Sending boarders is better for capturing non-destroyed ships.

That's almost identical to the ship I first beat it with:

I love the Ion blast II + beam weapon combo.  It can take down level 4 shielded ships in about 30 seconds

The randomness sometimes makes it feel like i'm playing chainsaw warrior (Bring a rope? no? well fuck you here's a chasm). It's that same randomness that got me my first easy win, Engi Atype, 2x ion 2x anti ship drones and a beam drone.

I have the tough little ship achievement but for the kitted out achievement do I just need to buy a cloak, teleporter and drone control?
