Which TBH has a far better case of being considered a genetic "disease" and subsequently needing a "cure."

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Have another example, then. And that one's even more of a difference.

I never said that. I'm saying that twin studies of social matters leave out important details, whether the twins are identical or not.
Sure.  And what important detail are twin studies of the methodology described leaving out?  The only one I can think of is that maybe identical twins will be more amiable than fraternal twins or something, but no study's perfect and I certainly can't think of a better method.
The left-out part is that the difference is not just genetic. People interact with identical twins far differently from fraternal ones. When fraternal twins meet new people, it is usually assumed they are just siblings if they are related at all. For identical twins, people instantly know we are twins. They generally assume we like the same things. So do parents. Furthermore, we are expected to like and do the same things. Imagine this.

There is already an expectation of heterosexuality. One twin is heterosexual, the other is homosexual. Not only does the homosexual twin have to deal with the existing anti-gay expectation, but also the same-as-the-twin expectation.

I found I was bisexual a couple years ago, though I'd liked females since years before then. I'd say what changed was just thinking about a single guy like that - leading to use what I'd learned from that encounter and apply it elsewhere. The way I see it, we can all pleasure each other, but the mind's job is to make choices; choices based upon survival and which shape future social conformity.

Genes control hormones, and sexuality is often defined by hormones. Thus I would say genetics have a role in it, but I disagree entirely that they are the predominate variable.

Sexuality is an outdated concept anyway~
With such a broad spectrum of gender, and not even a clear black and white physical sex, there's no real way to classify much of anything without it devolving into a clusterfuck like we have here~
People are attracted to who they're attracted to and that's that~

I don't think sexuality is just an outdated concept. It just isn't as black and white as people used to think it was.
I have never been sexually attracted to a guy. Sure there have been times when I have seen a guy and thought 'Wow, he is very good looking!' but I don't think I have ever thought 'Wow, I would like to sleep with him!', so clearly I have a preference for females. I am heterosexual, that is my character alignment.
That doesn't mean that everybody is dead straight or gay, but the concept of sexuality is still present.

It's an entirely unnecessary label; like I said, people are attracted to who they're attracted to~

It would be great if governments just went about it like that sentiment does, Ein, but unfortunately, we live in a world where people give a damn about who we as normal citizens want to fuck, even though it is none of their damned business. Once people stop trying to force people to be just like them, the world will be a much happier place for everyone, but not everyone gets it, yet.

Thank you - have been waiting to contribute something like this but couldn't find how to put it.

I'm not even sure if spectrum is an appropriate word. It seems more like a big multidimensional field of blurry splotches that overlap each other in confusing and ill-defined ways.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Personally I believe everything related to human nature is genetic at some level. Whether that matters or not is different. I feel people are more predisposed to certain thoughts/feelings more than others.

So I'll just drop this here. I heard about this a long, long time ago, and ever since I've never really been able to figure out how anyone has a logical argument against sexuality having genetic influence.

The article talks about the response to pheromones or chemicals (how one's brain is wired to respond to interaction with others) for straight and homosexual males. Homosexual males respond to the same pheromones that women do (brain-activity wise), while straight males do not. So if that's how the brain is wired, and it's incredibly unlikely that its influenced enough to change it by any conscious action, the conclusion that sexual attraction is genetic.

This, of course, does not cover all cases. People may be attracted to others due to a number of factors, or may just lie about their sexuality, or may just not care enough or aren't repulsed by sexual activity with a same-sex partner. However, these scenarios are probably far more rare than the standard brain-chemistry-reaction.

Actually, I think a brain is more than able enough to shift which pheromones it is looking for based on your minds preconceptions of what it likes.

I do not understand the need to dissect, research and demystify every aspect of our lives.
I do understand researching antigravity, hoping to further space-travel, I understand medical research, in order to cure various diseases, but why are you people trying to cure sexuality?

What's next, curing the need to eat? Yeah, sure, it would probably solve world hunger, but seriously, this is not the way.

I'm a bisexual myself. I've never felt the need to look for answers, nor have I felt the need to be "cured".
I'm just enjoying the ride, having the time of my life, and bothering no-one.

Sheesh, people, priorities. Maybe if the science community would spend less effort in "curing" homosexuality and researching how does peanutbutter consumption relate to weather patterns, we'd have a lot less... say... breast cancer, by now.
