Double post, the devs made some errors in the kickstarter

i"m trying to get an update page and a blog post to explain every error we made ... it is very frustrating but understandable that we cannot change things during a campaign...

first: the 15$ give you the alpha and eventually the full game, you don't need to pay a penny afteward to get the full game.. the discount price is the 15$... after the kickstarter we will rise it maybe to 20$.

second: the date.. my god the dates.. remove them completely they are not good, proto for october (really hope), alpha later after it.

Humbles apologies from all the team.. first time we do a kickstarter, goes very well except for those questions that completely destroyed my sleep in the past few days lol"

Can't change dates on stuff on KS itself, as far as I've seen with other ones.

They shouldn't be allowed to change the date at all IMO, considering that the promise on what is essentially the store page is that they will try to deliver in August 2012, in exchange for people's money. Pushing it all the way back to "really hope" October... seems dishonest to me. (This line of thought also applies to preorders for other games. I wouldn't have pledged in the first place if it had said anything later than August, but I can't cancel payment on such short notice for private reasons. I might just dispute the payment if there's no release for people who paid for the prototype by September.)

Their excuse is that, as they have almost 8.5 times more success than they thought, they have 8.5 times more work than they thought (to answer e-mails, prepare material rewards, this kind of stuff.). And this is subsequently slowing them down considerably.

I can live with a 3 month delay though.

Honestly, that's a poor excuse. they have worked on the game for two years now, they should have had that prototype ready for when they started the kickstarter. i didn't cancel my pledge and i am not too stirred about it, but i sense that the real reason for the delay is that their development speed is simply slower than what they and others expected.

kickstarters are, after all, a gamble.

You're luky they didn't flee with the money, as in investmentland just one third actually delivers.

When you get into this kind of agreement, you really have only hope and faith. I'm speaking in general terms, I do believe they'll eventually deliver and I'm a backer too; but ks is not the same of a presale.

Yeah, I've noticed that as KS moved towards a lot of devs using it for preorders, people started expecting it to be just that. That aside, CS looks like enough fun that I don't mind waiting, especially considering that it'll apparently be an alpha or prealpha build.

Wait a second, why would they delay the Prototype? It says that it would be them releasing the Barebone verison they have been working on for the last two years. Isn't it already finished?

But, they are clearly using computers to develop it. If it instantly crashed when it was run on a computer, why the hell do they have demonstration videos?

I am disappointed but not surprised. I have no doubt that they will finish the game given all that is in place now, but it was poor planning and poor policy that elicited money from us with the expectation of receiving the goods at a certain point, which they knew could not do.

At some point it became clear that the prototype would be delayed but they have not been very clear or vocal on the matter while still collecting our money.

Wasn't it the same with the Faster Than Light kickstarter? I mean, it is not really hard to have seen it coming. Software estimation is still not a science.

I really can't believe at all the disappointment on this delay, not even larger software houses can pinpoint down a release. And those with forced release date are usually buggy messes.
