Wasn't it the same with the Faster Than Light kickstarter? I mean, it is not really hard to have seen it coming. Software estimation is still not a science.

I really can't believe at all the disappointment on this delay, not even larger software houses can pinpoint down a release. And those with forced release date are usually buggy messes.
I totally agree there. And they have a one-to-two month delay, where it could have been six or seven. Be happy: some games can be delayed, like, FOREVER *wink wink*. and still be released buggy and shitty.

This is fucking bullshit. I came here after I got an email that only said "thanks for the money, sucker" instead of the prototype version we have been promised and this is the first I've read about the hidden forum post with a single line basically saying that the whole "early access" thing is a lie and that we "maybe" get the game several months later.

Is there anybody I can get in contact with to get my money back?

Woo alot of hostility there. The prototype being held back is not their fault and they did say on the forums why it was pushed back.

And to be honest why does it matter when you get it ? If you wait that month longer then the prototype you do get to play with will be alot more polished and have more features, in all honesty I can wait that bit longer for something more polished. And why ? You paid to fund something you would find entertaining and with your money they will make the game better your still in the alpha which is out in around 4 months your getting the game either which way, no need to be so hostile just because the prototype will be out in september/October

Because some of us just wanted to play the game they've already demonstrated as working-ish, asap. We're the same sort of people who play Minecraft weekly snapshots and major DF updates before the bugfix releases.

Are you a troll or so stupid that you really have no idea how scummy it is to ask money for something, then covertly change the terms with a single forum post hidden on another site but "conveniently" forget to mention it on the official blog or kickstarter?

The huge size of our Kickstarter is putting significant strain on our small team. We’ve been getting so many email and requests, that we are having a hard time working on the actual game these days. We’re at 400% of our goal and will probably reach 500% by the end of the month, so this means that we are required to put 400% as much effort managing everything than we originally planned for and it will probably last until the very end of the Kickstarter. So as close as we are to releasing the prototype, the Kickstarter is also slowing us down considerably.

Our milestone (accounting for all possible delays) is to release something in time for the IGF submissions which is on October 17th. Ideally we would still release somethings earlier than that, but if anything happens, you are guaranteed some kind of release by that time.

Kickstarter: where you pay someone to receive your email.
The team should ignore all emails for the next month or two and just fulfill their game obligations.

Ok, I am also annoyed but let's not turn on each other here.

They displayed a playable alpha and declared it would be delivered at a specific month in exchange for an elevated level of donation. They have had plenty of time to publicly declare in their updates but chose not to do so for obvious reasons. I did not cancel my donation because I still believe I will have some fun with the game eventually, but it does leave a bad taste in my mouth.

That being said, we made a donation, not a direct purchase. We took the developer at their word and it didn't work out as expected. Thems the breaks. We'll get over it, but we won't forget for a while I suspect.
