Just backed for the first time, and a good one to back i think. the one thing that slightly worries me is the lack of mentioning multiplayer, as i think this game would be best played in an PvPvE mode with starting islands for each player and the ability to conquer free ones.

This looks like an Awesome game, and its been funded within like a day. It went really fast indeed, and it looks like they will be going to go above and beyond with this now! Also 25 dollar pledge gets you the Prototype verison of the game, which should be fun to play around with.

They have indeed said that they will be including a Multiplayer mode, if I recall.
