Except Mind Control's hit odds were always terrible, like in the 25% range or so. I think the only time I ever successfully controlled an enemy was at 45%, and that was against a Berserker. Which proceeded to get one-shot by an Ethereal.
Mind Control requires you to dedicate the solider to psi. Wear Psi Armor and a Mind Shield, choose and use Psi-Inspiration, have another solider carry Combat Stims to use on them for the very difficult rolls. With this, and a Psionic who has been touched by the RNG, you can consistantly mind control Ethereals.

Without using that much you can mind control Sectoids, Thinmen, and Floaters with 100% effectiveness, it is possible that is, and Mutons with relative effectiveness.

With Psyarmor the only creatures who can resist a well trained soldier are basically the psionic aliens. At least in my run.

Wow... Just when I thought I had seen it all, all of a sudden a Cyber Disk in my game fragged its own repair drone.

Whoever designed the target acquisition/grenade arc calculator on that thing deserves to be fired.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

The panic ability has never seemed that good since it often means the alien gets a free shot at you.

Every other psionic ability is awesome though.

More often then not Psi-Panic will cause an alien to shoot you, however it means next turn they won't, which also means they won't move to flank you or use any of their abilities leaving them safe to flank and dispose of at your leisure, also stops them from overwatching or suppressing, very useful if you want to capture aliens as well.

Psi panic does seem most useful for a capture.  Panic it while all your guys are in cover, maybe it shoots, maybe not.  But now you have 3 moves to stun it.  The turn where you panicked it, after it takes its free shot on your turn, the next turn it won't make a move, so that's another freebie, then the third turn before its move.  It does seem quite situational though, but so is psi inspiration.

It seems to me that Psi Panic would be most useful when used by a Ghosted unit scouting ahead. Get the aliens to shoot one another or waste their turn before moving the rest of your guys up.

No, but I do like the idea that X-COM sells the alien corpses to McDonalds.

Or X-Cart, where your heavy piloting a SHIV races against Greys in miniature UFOs and cutesy Mutons riding on Sectopods.

Welp, now that I finally have some free-time, I decided to try and play some XCOM Ironman Classic Mode!

And. . . uhhh, I failed horribly.

While I didn't technically get the game over screen, I had reached the terror mission, with a squad size of four, everyone being rookies (Except for a squaddie support.), and two laser pistols. I had no satellites available for deployment, and nearly every country was panicking.

I didn't have an OTS, since everyone died before they could reach sergent. Also, I was forced to skip a lot of missions because I forgot about the Grey Market, had no money, and had only one soldier.

Instead of futilely attempting the terror mission, I just deleted the file.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

Why laser pistols instead of laser rifles?
