AKA:
Site ReconInitially, I had approached the mission very slowly. I crept up with a squad a tiny bit at a time, and eventually made it to above the hivewhale. I lost absolutely nobody... until then. I triggered two Chryssalids off to the side. I hit them with a rocket, and one with a grenade (I apparently missed the other). "No problem," I thought, "my shotgun assault and my heavy can overwatch and kill it."
Nope. The Chryssalid jumped RIGHT NEXT TO MY SHOTGUN ASSAULT AND SHE MISSED AND SO DID THE HEAVY. She died. It was then things began to go FUBAR. I killed the Chryssalid, and moved a soldier to the bridge. I made the mistake of setting my Chryssalid-killing soldier right next to my dead assault. She came to life and murdered that soldiers. I had 4 left.
I then went into damage control. I triggered the bombers, and then held my ground for my squad to get together. Then, an absolutely terrifying chase scene where all my soldiers were dashing just fast enough to keep ahead of the Chryssalids, until roughly 2 turns from extract. Things went bad then. Chryssalids ran right between half my squad, and they had to split up. The first two made it to extract, with two Chryssalids in tow. The other two needed a bit more time to get to extraction. I then made a calculated risk: If I could kill one Chryssalid, the Chryssalids would only be able to kill one soldier. So I ran the two late soldiers up and then I sent a soldier nicknamed "Titan" (he had a ton of health) up to a Chryssalid and had him fire. HE MISSED A 97% CHANCE. It went downhill there. One Chryssalid smacked him, but due to his massive amount of health he DIDN'T DIE, by one health. That wasn't to last though. The other one hit him and he died. Then, one of my late soldiers panicked. So, I was left with 6 Chryssalids and a zombie with two soldiers able to evacuate and one panicked. Well, I left the panicked soldier behind and got away with just two out of six soldiers. One which was basically a rookie, and a Heavy. That hurt.
