I do like little games like this. Only problem is no sound to go with the pretty particles, but that can be solved by also listening to the MGS3 soundtrack, which makes anything 5x more badass.

Hooray! Also, it may surprise you to know that i had actually originally thought somewhere along those lines, but decided to scrap it for the sake of simplicity and because massive changes in gameplay mid-game often fall into "why would you do that" territory. :v

I was pretty sure Barkley was actually written in RPGMaker, at least at first.

The peeps behind Tales of Games were online friends, from a now-defunct forum called Gaming World. Basically every member had a cool and/or shitty RPGMaker project, and a lot of the in-jokes in Barkley were related to other members, and discussion threads on there.

It was a very cynical place, but there were a lot of cool and weird indies who got their start there.

I also made a walk cycle in Flash (or Animate as it's called now) but it's much uglier so eh. I AM SPENT FOR TODAY.

It doesn't look ugly Shook, in fact I think it looks rather good. Maybe the arm motion is a little choppy, but the leg movement is very fluid.
