Better.

You added some shade, and gave the tank some texture. I don't know a whole lot about art, but this is a bit more appealing. You seem to have seen most of the flaws, too.

Ooh, that's a nice cannon. It reminds me of concept art for early Command & Conquer games.

On an unrelated note, I really can't understand how to paint skin tones, especially on the face - the end result is too orange, mustard or grey. Does anyone have any tips and tricks?

I find a surrealist style works wonders for that :P

More seriously, I'd love to hear somebody here's advice on that one.

Once again i link to Android Arts, who makes some notes on skin tone from that point and onwards. I myself stick to grayscale too much to know about skin tones. :U

Ohohohoho, now that's a propa big shoota m8! The barrel kindddd of seems like it bends, but it also kind of seems like that might be intentionally bendy perspective lines which i've seen advertised somewhere. In any case, I LIKE IT.

also i am taking a little break from feeling terrible about my hands to bring you Dog Snorkel(tm)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

i would love to make more comments to you guys but it's pretty clear that both my hands have a repetitive strain injury now so welp

I see it too; like the end of the barrel is heavy enough, or the barrel itself is heavy enough that it can't maintain structural integrity; seems at that scale it's plausible. Which would mean the those bullets have to be durable enough to knock it back into shape or not be thrown too far off by the bent barrel.

Walkers laugh at physics and shoot you in the face.

But seriously I think that's what that weight on the back is for.

The cannon looks bendy because I drew it slightly wrong the first time around, I tried to fix it up but apparently it didn't work out too well. If I ever do a digital pass over it I'll fix it up properly.

And while the thing may look unbalanced, as Cinder pointed out, there's counterweights and the engine housing at the rear of the mech. Also sillier and more unbalanced looking things have existed. Like say, the Kondensator:

The legs need work. Maybe some articulation and that sort of thing; as it is they look a little Gumbyish. Is the yellow bit on the upper right the Sun? If so, do your lighting under that assumption. Bits to the right should have highlights, bits to the left should have shadows. Are the two purple bits along the barrel some kind of exhaust?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
