I think it's very good! The art style is both clear and nice-looking.
My interpretation of the story is that gator-dude is walking and he walks up to a building (an inn, I'm guessing from context) where he gives a red birdman money. He goes to sleep in the red birdman's inn, and then two orange birdmen join the red to kill him in his sleep. They take his money and leave his dismembered body for the crows.
The only thing I'm unsure of is the white-mabobber on gator-dudes head. It seems to be a part of his body, but I can't tell what.

You da first that got it right. Feather is symbolic of wisdom while fish is symbol of birdman's profession, aka feeding travelers :v

I don't see what's wrong with the font. You can't really do anything to change it at this size. The only problem I can see is with the "current spells learned" line. Does that includes both square thingy sections, or is it split in "current spells" and "learned"? Everything else is awesome.

Edit: I might have something to show soon, it will depend if I manage to make it look good enough. My first attempt ended up looking horrible.

Yeah, now the 'Spells' word is a bit higher than others and the arrows are more standing out to point 'Current' and 'Learned' words to proper boxes.
