Only MKs 1 and 2 are sold in Argon space. I used to make money by buying meatsteaks and selling them in Argon Sector M148 but since the "Great Meat Steak Inflation" that has become a bad route. I've yet to check on ore stocks, though. Sector M148 is loaded with factories that require ore and there just happens to be an ore mine right on their doorstep in Enduring Light.

IIRC, MK3s are sold in Teladi Space?

I'm quite sure that the corporate HQ sells them. At least it did in X3:R Not sure about TC tho.

check PTNI HQ's equipment dock, Mk3 is sold by Teladi, along with a few of the corporations. Prioritise speed over cargo space for Mk3s, Caimans and Mistrals are best for that, and the Mistral's got the better stats of the two.

I'd suggest not building stuff in the "alleyway" between Scale Plate Green and Black Hole Sun, btw, it's a fairly busy Xenon migration route, and nothing ruins your day like a Q patrol blowing up your prized complex.

Empire's Edge is a good place to train your Mk3 traders, as is any sector with a solar power plant and a few food producing factories.

Ok a quick and nerdy question.

Which race is superior.
Xenon or Kha'ak?
I kinda like how the Xenon are highly advanced and adaptive terraforming AIs gone wild.

In terms of ingame power?

More like in terms of:
We have a epic showdown between Romulans and Klingons.
Who would win?

Oh and one more thing.

Some time ago i bought a X:Anthalogy that cointianed all X games upto X3:TC however it does not use steam.
It's not a bad thing but i'd somehow like to have it in my steam library... is there a way to make the game recognisable by steam (other than buying the steam version)?

In game power: Xenon LX. Nuff said

Plot: Xenon control much of unknown space, and Kha'ak are masters of swarming foes and obliterating them. Kha'ak also live offworld, away from jumpgates and civilization. Both are hive minds. Both are very destructive and will destroy anything at all costs. One's organic (maybe) and one's made out of metal and data. One has been sent offworld due to their destructive power, and the other has been kicked out of the neighborhood (I think).

I think the Xenon would win.

I bought the X Universe pack on Steam in a sale a while ago, but I can't get into this for the same reason I hate Eve Online - you're confined to your ship, or a ship - whatever ship you have at the time. I'd like a little more immersion!

Let's hope Rebirth's engine is better. X3's was horribly inefficient, something about the game being single-core and the graphics renderer using the CPU to some extent, to boot.

Though maybe that CPU-rendering's a quirk of the Arvoch games. But still, despite my good rig, I remember my FPS in X3:TC dropping to 20 or less whenever the camera faced anything big with any degree of complexity, like space stations. There was nothing I could do about that, and it ultimately turned me off.

Ah, single-core game engine... Reminds me of how my poor 6-year old PC (at that time) struggled to run X3 at medium setting. A year earlier, the same PC ran X2 overnight to allow my factories and universal traders to accumulate credits.

Even the infinite expanse of space has traffic jams sometimes.

EDIT: Also, I just found an abandoned Xenon L. How does that work?

EDIT: Also, I just found an abandoned Xenon L. How does that work?
Xenon occasionally make forays into faction systems, and the faction systems fight back. Xenon "pilots" don't bail out, rather, they have a small chance of having their AI systems disabled when struck by an attack when their shields are down. AFAIK, there is nothing in an unmodded game that goes and salvages abandoned ships; so providing the attack that disables the ship doesn't destroy it, it just floats there waiting for the player to cap it.

I still have that Xenon P in Reunion, got it the same way.

Recently, I managed to cap a Paranid Ares, This thing is all kinds of crazy awesome. I did lose 3 TPs and a handful of M3/M4s to an ill-timed missile barrage when catching it though.

Anyone have any idea what to do now? My piloting skills are entirely invested as a fighter pilot, and whenever I use this thing I end up asploding everything, and missile reloads are not cheap.

Transfer your best marines to the Ares and use Boarding Pods for boarding? Maybe try investing in a 'plex making 1MJ Shields/Microchips, they always sell brilliantly.

Look at getting a Hyperion Vanguard (Paranid M6, unbuyable. gotta cap it.), it handles almost like a fighter, with the firepower of a Corvette. I've taken out Xenon Js and Ks with my Hype. Same with the ATF Vidar, although it'll probably be a bit harder to get.

Grab yourself a small fleet of M6s for factory defense?

Well... yeah, the fleet might look impressive on paper (Well to me it is), but there are a few gaping faults.

The primary reason I was able to catch the Ares was due to a previous attack that left it slightly damaged, but more importantly, without its escort. While the Ares was futilely trying to beat down my swarm of fighters after being stripped of its shields from the Auster, I was able to send the TP's in to cap it. If it wasn't for the lack of turrets and fire support my TPs would've been blown to space dust.

"But why not use the Hoshi to send in the marines, with 4GJ vs. 75MJ?"
The problem is the shields; the only faction willing to sell me 2GJ or even 1GJ shields is OTAS, and their station is always irritatingly devoid of it. So my Hoshi is running with 2X200MJ shields. CPLS helps it fight off most smaller ships with little issue, but it's too important to risk as it is.

The Hoshi's a carrier, right? Only M6s, TPs and M7Ms can launch marines anyway, so using the Hoshi for that isn't possible. The reason for using the Ares is that it fires them in Boarding Pods; missiles containing 5 marines each, they're much more likely to make contact and cut through the hull than spacewalking marines are. Some larger ships require boarding via pod; their hulls are impossible to get through with just spacewalkers. Just make sure you mix the pods in with flails; they're somewhat vulnerable to anti-missile fire.
