Research update:

The University of Dundee continues to make excellent progress. I allowed the staff a five-minute Christmas break, so they could phone their loved ones. Then it was back to work developing the tools of the Empire! With our newest laboratory additions, we estimate we'll have opened up the 1935 designs by mid-January. Construction continues at this moment, so I hope to eventually move that deadline up to around Jan 10-12. Furthermore, with the increased national research capacity, subsequent designs should come quickly thereafter.

Since the Home Guard proposal was voted down in the Cabinet, we are planning to refocus our next research effort on updated equipment for the Regulars.

Erm, my train seems to have vanished after sending one up to Nevyn.
I refueled it twice, and it SHOULD have had enough to make it back, but it may have ran out. Do trains simply poof if they run out of coal? If so, that's really stupid.

Wait, nevermind. It's there, it was just invisible on the map for some reason. A bit of clicking on the tracks found it sitting there without fuel.

-edit- And now I realize theres a log entry that could have let me zoom right to it. Heh.

Any nation that we choose needs to be small enough to become diplomatically active, the fact that so many provinces went to waste in the inhabited British Isles simply because their wasn't anyone to take a province in the middle of Africa and India was silly. I'd like to suggest taking Turkey, it's a mid-sized country in a nice location in the Mediterranean. Any European nations that would wish to invade Anatolia or the rest of the middle east would have to cross through the Bosphorus strait, which is easily blocked by artillery and superior naval power. Every other European power that borders the middle east is too big to activate early. Giving us room to expand by land, while a naval focus would give us domination of the Mediterranean, both defensive and offensive. Not to mention the country's southern coast is rife with jungle.

In conclusion Turkey is the superior strategic choice.What are your guy's suggestions?

More than Turkey, I imagine. Over 70% of a countries provinces have to be occupied to allow early activation, so get to counting gentlemen.

and while Australia is in a nice, isolated position with plenty of jungle hexes, your average Turkish woman is leagues more attractive than a typical Aussie(British) gal. :P

EDIT* three recounts and one aneurysm later I've come to 72 provinces for Turkey, or about fifty warm bodies in provinces, which is too many for this forum obviously.
