Part 12
News of your misadventures must be spreading through the ship by now, and even a half-witted stooge would be on the lookout for trouble. With the assistance of the Cult Mechanicus you get access to the crew registry, locating the duty station of Rating-Technician Korvin Garts. He's presently down in the depths of engineering, no doubt doing something with vents.
The matter of he Munitorum serial code is another lead you can't afford to drop or delay, so on the way down to engineering you ambush the first gaggle of guardsmen you encounter, imbuing them with purpose and sending them on to the supply officer with the code and your authority. They'll call in on you as soon as they discover anything of import, and are permitted to detain anyone on reasonable grounds.
Heading deeper into the bowels of the ship is an unpleasant experience. The whole environment is oppressive and stinks of aged filth and well-lubricated machinery, inhabited by pallid creatures known as crew. The local crew boss directs you onwards with a semi-apprehensive look at your regalia, and the uniforms begin to take the form of heavy pressurised suits designed for hazardous conditions.
With some asking and prodding, you finally get directed to the exact location of Garts. A locker hall, where the crew begin and end their shifts by stepping in and out of their pressure suits. Rating-Technician Garts is there, assembling the last modules of his harness before heading out. In a word, he looks unsavoury, but so do the other three vent-monkeys getting dressed. That's what happens when you live on poorly-recycled air and suspicious food, you suppose.
Investigation- Ship Warp drive under emergency maintenance, causing delay.
- Rating-Technician Korvin Garts accessed vents on official duties before and after disturbance, now located in engineering.
- Disturbance caused by a small Warp-related device, now destroyed.
- Components may be traced through Munitorum supply office, guardsmen deployed to investigate.
