Best Dwarven Recipes!
« on: November 13, 2011, 09:12:48 pm »

I'm not interested in hearing about your masterwork bla blah blah. What I really want to know is: What's the greatest, most delicious-sounding recipe you have devised within the Dwarf Fortress Framework (DFF)?

Was it a 'roast' of flour, sugar, tallow and berries? (ie. cake batter)
A decadent unicorn stew?

Tell me! The gourmand must know.

Cookies for the cookie monster! Praise Henson!

Dragon meat, dwarven flour x2, and dwarven syrup.

Dragon pancakes.

For my starting supplies, I always make sure all the "meat" I bring along are prepared parts of insects; ant brains, etc.  This particular stock is then kept in reserve until I have a good enough cook.

Then we get masterpiece bug stews for all.

A 'roast' made from cow cheese, dwarven syrup, dwarven syrup, and dwarven syrup.   Mmm, triple-glazed cheese.

Turkey Egg, Sheep Cheese, Plump Helmets, Longland Ale.

I can imagine some fat dwarf cook finishing making a nice mushroom & cheese omelette, looking at it, stroking his beard, then pouring a barrel of beer over it to make it complete.

I like dishes that are mostly made out of swamp whiskey.

Chop some plants and throw it in a large bowl of booze = dwarven dinner.

I expanded my food options a little through modding, so my dwarves end up with things like donkey cheese chili (chili con queso, I'm assuming) and capybara meat pies.

Regarding the latter: "The ingredients are finely-minced capybara meat, well-minced capybara tallow, superbly-minced maize flour, and well-minced prickle berries." Flour and lard for a nice, flaky pie crust, and a filling of meat and tangy wild berries... sounds like a pretty good mincemeat pie to me.

They also somehow managed to make a bowl of chili with nothing but quarry bush leaves, though that I'm significantly less certain about.

Still waiting on my dorfs to figure out pumpkin pie, so once they manage that and a suitably stuffed roast turkey, I can post about dwarven Thanksgiving feasts.

Wait.
Are you saying your dwarfs eat more then just plump helmets for 30 years?
Washed down by some nice plump helmet drank?
