He could be a SK.  Perhaps he doesn't have a regular kill, and needs to be targeted to charge it up.  He hasn't used it because he just needs to force a mislynch today and kill someone tonight to win.

I held fire, BTW.

BTW, Jim, what happened during the night?

Nothing.

I wasn't targeted by anything. If anything else happened I wouldn't know about it.

Good try, though.

You stole the words right out of my mouth.

Jim:  Since I know I'm no SK, I take it one of you is some sort of hostile third party, and I'm leaning you.  Why?  You've been hunting plenty well, but you knew the whole time you had your shield.  With that, you could hunt as you usually do without fear of being killed off.  All you had to do is avoid a lynch and do whatever it is you needed to do, and you've got it.  I'm guessing that you benefit somehow from being targeted, given that you were trying to get people to target you.  Given that you are completely untargetable (not just non-kill actions,) your amped power level (especially compared to the other known powers) points to a third party role.

I don't see any other explanation making sense.  It must be you.  Good try, though.

Serial Killer... who is immune to night actions... but whose kill... needs to be charged by night actions...? How the hell would I win?

Yes, yes. Indeed, there's no other explanation that makes sense.

You'll have to ask your role PM, though you clearly missed where I meant in my theory that even a failed night action would charge it.

Toaster: So, what exactly makes the idea that Dariush or I could be third parties so unlikely to you?

Toaster, what is your favourite color?
Dariush: Why ask this now?  Or at all?

I will say, it is odd that Jim's role is a somewhat more powerful version of the Snail.  I'm not willing to vote him for that yet, though.

And Dariush's is a less powerful version of the Bee. Point being, there's some redundancy and overlap in the roles. That I'm a more powerful version of the Snail isn't very remarkable.

How about I point you back to how spotty Toaster's claim has been. He claimed to no-action the same nights he was blocked by Simple, which is very, very convenient. He also claimed he didn't want to shoot Simple because he wasn't sure about him being scum even though he comes out the next day voting him, an inconsistency I point out here. Then later he shot MBP after declaring him town earlier in the game, which I also found inconsistent as I point out here. For a claimed vigilante he's not selecting targets like I would expect a vigilante would.

Toaster is inventing a role out of thin air as a reason to suspect me since he has literally no reason to think I have any aspects to my role I haven't already stated. Meanwhile, Vigilantes and Serial Killers operate in the exact same fashion. The game isn't over for whatever reason, so why don't you exercise a little thought and think through what's more likely: that I'm an action-immune serial killer whose kills needs to be charged by night actions failing against me, or Toaster is just a serial killer.

It's painfully obvious. So is his plan: lynch me so that he can kill you during the night and win by vote parity tomorrow. It's an extremely long shot but it's literally his only chance.

Jack:  It's not that I think it unlikely that you are not third parties (I wouldn't be shocked if Dariush is a survivor, for example- you, however, I've had a solid town read on all game) but that I don't see you two as win-blocking third parties.  Something is preventing the game from being over despite all four mafia being gone, so it must be someone whose wincon prevents the game from ending now.  The only one I know of that can do that is serial killer- hence my theory on Jim's role.

Because my sense of humor had atrophied during my childhood.

Wait, are you seriously thinking about voting Jim for that?

Meph, if a townie with 3 votes and an SK with 1 vote remain, who'll win?

Assuming the SK had no vote abilities, the town would win.

I would need a lot more solid evidence to vote for Jim.

For now, Toaster.  Toaster's Jim theory is a stretch, and he has failed to explain why Dariush or I can't be the ones blocking the win.

Toaster: So, why can't Dariush or I be win-blocking third parties?  And has Jim actually done anything scummy?  You said he's been hunting pretty well.

You could be.  However, I'm pretty damn convinced you're town due to how you've been playing (well).  Dariush?  Like I said, I get a bit of a survivor vibe from him.

As for Jim, he's hard to find scumtells for.  The big thing I would point out is his tendency to focus on single "easy" targets at a time, instead of casting a broader net.

D1 he focused on lynching Zrk2, with only a few looks elsewhere.  D3 he was on MBP all day until he switched to BD to break a tie.  D4 he stayed on Simple the whole time- and indeed, D4 through D6 he didn't change his vote the whole day.   He didn't really care who got lynched- he just wanted a lynch.  His goal was to get the game down to the last few players so that he could do whatever it is he needed to do.  Seeing as his "plan" last night involved him getting targeted, with a foregone conclusion on lynch depending on who caught a NK, it appears that any result would further his wincon.  I'm guessing he really needed those targets to hit him for whatever reason.

By that logic, Toaster, I'm scum because I didn't care who got lynched because I consistently kept on one person most days.  But, of course, you consider that good play from me.

It looks like there's nothing I can say that won't convince you to not let Jim get away with this.

The Counting Stones
Jim Groovester: Toaster
Toaster: Dariush, Jack AT, Jim Groovester

The counting stones are clear, and Toaster will not be Chief. He stands up abruptly, glaring down at all of you. "Fools. You shall regret this. The power of the Grizzly Bear will not be so easily denied!"

"Enough, Toaster!" says Jack. "The rest of us have decided. Save your anger for the battlefield."

He clenches his fists and opens his mouth, but closes it again into a tight line. He stalks out without another look back.

The next few spirit walks pass quietly and at the end Jack AT is elected the tribes new Chief. He promises to lead with wisdom.

Game over. Good job, town! Hopefully everyone had fun. It was an interesting exercise to do a BYOR and I had a lot of fun with the flavor.

Here is the scum chat
And here is the dead chat

Role pms are all in the OP and spirit walk actions will follow in the next post.
