 Oh dear, methought, a mega-beast, my fortress is doomed, we are all going to be slaughtered by Duslud, brush titan, the butterfly!
anyone else had these encounters?
oh and it managed to down it, and only one dwarf by tearing an artery before we killed it.
how it survived the 160 years of world gen I'll never know...

I had a giant three-eyed aphid loose in my caverns.  Didn't track it well and it's on the deceased list now - so another Beast took it out I assume.

That the ash or salt monsters survive so long surprises me.  They die really quickly when I do go hunting them, or setting up spike traps to hammer at them.

forgot the name, was awhile ago. a winged snail covered in feathers with acid blood. it was killed by a pond grabber.

With the Forlorn Realms mod, I had a cow forgotten beast made out of ZINGER HEARTS.

To put that into perspective; you take the smallest, furriest thing that even a dwarf child can kill (I've seen it), you take one of the most vulnerable parts out of it and you turn it into a big cow. This is the equivalent of making it out of the tears of fluffy wamblers or the hopes and dreams of sleeping dwarf babies.

Needless to say, a wayward miner punched it and caused it to bleed out.

My first encounter with a megabeast was a snow megabeast.  The miner who found it killed it with one swing of his pick.

The next one was not so nice, and killed my whole fortress.

I remember my very first megabeast:

OH MY GOD MY MILITARY ISN'T TRAINED WE'RE DOOOOOOOMED!!!!
*Checks it's stats to see what will bring our fortress to the end*
It's made out of glass... what?

It shatters into pieces.

I had a man made of snow who was bipedal, and carried an look of unbelievable peace 
He was still very much hostile, and before I could capture it and mock it for eternity, a pack of war dogs got it.

One of mine came from one of those holes that breaches from the first cavern to the third. A winged chipmunk or some nonsense.

It flew all the way up. A dabbling archer greeted it by severing a motor nerve in its wings.

I don't remember specifics beyond that it was a biped made of silty clay, but I ran into one Titan in Adventure Mode one time that my no-skills, peasant sidekick killed with a single poke from a copper carving knife. It wasn't even a critical hit to the head or a vital organ; just a swipe that somehow instantly bisected a megabeast and launched the lower half of the body (a mass of clay that weighed roughly as much as your average whale) two or three squares away in the process.
