There are the train tracks. *points somewhere else* And this is the wreck of the derailed train thread. It's covered in -pig tail socks.

on-topic:

The game already contains things like miscarriages. I see no reason that dwarves SHOULDN'T break up from time to time, atleast when they are "lovers" and not married.

Then again I see absolutely no reason that the game should beat you over the head with it. They make a note when they get married and they pause when they have a child. That's it.

At the very least, even without divorces the game needs more relations. Adoption is definitely needed (because there are so many orphans. they are everywhere) and it's only weird that a Dwarf who marries at age 13 stays true until age 130 .. even though his wife died a hundred years ago. Literally.

This is a masterfully derailed thread. It depicts Necro in magma-silk thread. This relates to the great derailing of the Divorce Thread in 2011. Necro is holding up a pig-tail fiber sock. Necro is swimming. Necro is striking a defiant pose.

This would create another excellent time when dwarves will go on a spree.

That incident was really what clued me in to the depth this game can offer, though that one time I made a fort of 150 dwarves suspended over a gorge and cut it all loose was pretty fun too.

Wait! Fuck!

Are we seriously proposing that the time has come ....

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

How can that be a bad idea? The truest drama of all can at last have new levels of pathos!

Inb4 'Urist McLonely has married a *Pig tail fiber sock*. They decided to forgo any formal celebrations.'

But yeah, in two minds about this: On one hand, it'd be awesome both for the added drama, and dwarves who lose their spouses being able to remarry, (it always sucks when one of your favourite dwarves becomes a widow/er and you never get to breed them. :( ) but on the other hand, I think such things should only happen in rather unusual circumstances... Like if Urist McUnfaithful happens to be idling in the barracks whilst Mistem McManly is training, and ends up ditching Kogan McMaritalproblems the potash maker for the burly militia commander.
Or something. I dunno. I think it'd definitely add to the game! :)

Epic. And sigged.

I've never been sigged

I feel so honored...

SIR I SHALL MAKE A MAGMA SHRINE IN YOUR HONOR AND SACRIFICE 100 DWARVES TO IT!
To be fair I was gonna sacrifice the dwarves anyway, so this is just a convenient coincidence

I think all the socks thing has to do with the disappearing sock syndrome. You know where you suspect the washing machine to be responsible.
As dwarves apparently do NOT wash their socks, I believe that they suspect each other and elven visitors to be responsible for the constantly disappearing socks. And that's why they rush at every sock lying around - it's hope it might be theirs (or at least the other sock from the guy, who's presently wearing his - in order to trade them back). I won't speculate what actually causes the affection.

Now in order to clear this bogged situation, I'd suggest a clean slate approach: Throw them all into the magma, soak them with booze and incinerate them, give them to the elves in the dungeons as food. When in doubt, throw the dwarf currently attached to it also in. Good riddance to the sock love stories.

Dwarves do too wash their socks sometimes. Albeit in magma, of course.

As dorfy and derailed as this thread is, I still feel disappointed. I was hoping for a dwarven divorce thread like the dwarven child care or optometry thread.

On topic, how could we weaponize divorce once it happens? Lure men into a strip club where they sit in a smouldering artifact ‼Throne‼ where their fat/skin burns off? Traumatize them with the beard of the dwarven strip club thread and have a militia full of broke, blind men who don't really care about anything anymore?

I love it! Thanks, now I will again imagine Goblinettes dancing in golden cages in that sleazy underground bar all day.
