I fully agree. eat to your content.
then make photoreceptors for your outside lazers (communication), making sure you could easily communicate with another yourself, and having the intelligence to co-operate.
Then release the young and begin population growth.
I agree with this.

The Pilot and their cargo handlers paused when they saw that the entire camp is covered in eldritch runes coated in blood. And rotting monkey corpses everywhere..

And if it has a high enough capacity then we can have thousands of jellyfish all contributing to one Superjel!

Or we can just become bigger and use technology to aid in our deathstar esque weapon?

So we can either spend billions of years into turning the planet into a living jellyfish that spits out exotic particles as thrust and shoots deathlaz0rs from its eyes, or we can take a billion and a half years making uberpowered robots and technology to help us with that. hmmmmm

Turn 30

You top off your food supply, and comb through the genetic material of your prey. Unfortunately, the ones you catch are the ones that are in plain sight- definitely not the best of the bunch. They are much less advanced than you are, so you simply absorb most of their material. You also try your hand at eating some of the algae. Although not quite as tasty or nutritious as your previous meals, it is nonetheless quite filling. Not only do you get a meal, but also a new source of energy! You manage to separate out a few of the algal cells and integrate them into yourself. Using this new source of energy, you direct several laser emission conduits to the edge of your being. This should enable you to send pulses of light directly to the outside. Maybe even to send messages to others of your kind.

Others of your kind? Oh! How could you forget? You quickly begin to release the ephyra that you have been cultivating within you. After a few moments, you have spit out a creature that looks somewhat like you, but much simpler and smaller. The immature Vitascinti flutters around you like a sea butterfly.

Test out its communication abilities. You need to know how soon it can be useful to you, group wise.

Also, if there is some way we can kick start its life by supplying some energy and nutrients, we should do that too.

Y'know, I could see this ending up like that amebic sea thing from Expedition/Alien Planet, or that sentient ocean from Solaris. Which would be awesome.
