Well, I'll do it in the morning, if Iiteum hasn't. :)
I'll have to brush up on the fightin' rules first, though.

Hey guys, just wanted to check in and say I'm still around. Had a pretty tough week in terms of finding jobs and relationship stuff so I haven't had time to catch up yet.

Keep my seat warm and I should be back soon enough! :)

Hey guys, I know it's not really related to the game BUT... I've now released V 0.2 of my underdark mod for DF and it now has all the basic framework in place, it's here if you want to check it out:

No actually i didnt, the italic part is the estimation of increment on clams because they're not in the list of goods yet

You paid .6 for 2 loads of clams

Probably just something you'd put in your sig, not in the discussion thread of another game

Ok, explain to me, I made just 0.75d? And I'm on 5.4 d, despite the fact that I had 6 before I did the trade? Shouldn't I have 6.75 then?

You had 6d paid 0.6d so your now on 5.4d and have discoverd you can make a net profit of 0.75d if you were to sell which would bring you to 6.75d to my understanding as you've not sold them yet, just checked the prices.

Does anyone think a roll needs to be made to have Aulon put under...castle arrest? He's essentially a political prisoner, being kept in fairly well-appointed quarters after all. And no overtly hostile actions have been taken against him (yet).

If not, I'll go back to managing the Kingdom again and we can get the ball rollin'

There's 11 crown-loyal regiments, 5 if you only count those loyal to the crown and 12 if Zandor comes back (Erik intends to knight him if he does). They're spread out through the provinces by a bit, but not by so much that we're weak as a result.
At the moment I'm trying to decide which ones, if any, to bring/send to Miring. The Knight Guard, yes. But not the King's Eyes, Shield, or Sword. Nor the palace/sheepstead guard... I may need to recruit some more before I do anything else. Maybe making use of the manpower from Sheepy Hollow and (with the assumption that they are Cyclist Troops) Riverfall?

Anyways, Ardas is essentially right: You guys do not have the authority to really stop the merchants, and you don't even know what they're up to in-game. Once you find out about things, feel free to voice your views on it to the King, and even govern the trade in your duchies, marches, counties, and baronies as you want, but you aren't really going to be able to do much to stop them unless you remain on Erik's good side long enough to be able to make him wage war against the middle class.

I'll make rolls later if you guys want me too. I want to make Corv's, anyways, because I really enjoy making rolls for the Weyland Highlands. They're fun.

Moving south tomorrow and tired from getting things together, so may not do a post tonight.  Skimmed through posts since I last looked - to answer CG's question, yes, the province limit for building is still in effect.  The free sailors for this year have actually been used up in all known provinces, so you will have to capture ships or hire them at hiring rates to expand your fleet.  Or get enough cash to start a Service business and fund the training of Sailor specialists.

I'll start skimming back through this thread for the moment.

In other news, I've quietly been getting what work I can done on automation, but I've also been reminded that I do have another game development project I should be working on that does get precedence, plus I'm starting school in just over a week.  So this is sort of third place on the list right now.  =B

Oooh.  Read through CG's PM.  Assuming I don't just leave it until the mechanics reboot, I'll definitely be wanting to make ready cash/season equal to Trade Potential.  Should about halve profits for traders.

CG broke the system by pointing out he could make 120d/year from trading with just the 7 provinces available.  I happen to have the kingdom tax tables for Elbreth, Miring, Suul and the Storm Coast nations we've discovered, and their combined tax income for one year is... 189.4d.  So, that's probably broken.  60d/year (Market Allowance = Trade Potential) puts him on par with the combined wealth of Elbreth + Miring (very likely soon just Elbreth), a 3 province state.  Since he'll have to compete that with other merchants, that's more balanced.

I'll sort out a'Valti and der Vries' rolls before I rest tonight, so that's out of the way.  Sorry, I literally just missed the rolls.

Anyone with GM privs can do the Granny rolls, since it isn't owned by any one GM or directly related to any faction.  It's a free-for-all.  I left the fight out last time because I was exhausted and fell unconscious.  It's been a busy two weeks.  =P

Merchants do have one massive disadvantage - they can't hire regiments beyond personal guard if they don't have land, and they can't own land in a lot of places (and those they can usually have laws forbidding private armies).  You can also prevent them from hiring the Sailors out of your ports by passing a law that prohibits hiring sailors without a license - and then enforcing it with archers and carracks.

Thatkid:  By all means do Corv's battle rolls, but I'm just going to add something into my post to clarify things.

iituem, i'll gladly split the aching -> vasir run with ardas :P

Yeah it was a tad broken, but with some mods we'll have it manageable - as i said before: give me math and i'll break it. :D

Actually with my rolls i didnt include worst/best case involving the transport rolls. So it's a little more fluid than it was.

To everyone else:
-Merchants have 3 rolls to fight with to get a good deal - Transport, Buy and Sell
--Volatility of these rolls alone makes merchanting -very- hard to make a profit off of
