The important thing when setting up any reasonably secure computer system is to ensure that you launch it directly into the centre of the sun. It has been found that at least 99.999999999999% of viruses, trojans, malware and other unwanted programs do not work on a computer that has been launched into the centre of the sun.

So, back on topic?

Then clearly it's not just MS that needs to stop horsing around and do things properly but everyone else as well. And I don't buy this "oh it can't be done" talk.

Programs, especially OS's are very, very complex pieces of code. Unfortunetely this complex code is written by humans. Humans are not infallible, you only have to look around to see this.

So is it possible to make a flawless program? Technically, yes. But it would require a flawless person. So is it actually possible? No. It's not going to happen. It virtually cannot be done.

I don't see why that would have to be the case. Surely it's possible to keep the system and the data separate and prevent one from interfering with the other?

I meant other programs, not data.

It is possible, its called UAC. Also programs are data, for example Buffer Overflow attacks exploit this by inputting data into a program and tricking the program into executing this data as if it were part of the program code.

Let's be honest here. You guys scared off anyone interested in actually talking about the game because those that enjoy playing it are playing it instead of getting involved in internet arguments.  :P

Oddly my friends who obsessively played the game for hours on end (to the point where I played over 30 hours in two days) suddenly announced they don't like Diablo 3

And these are people who got max level and beat the entire game on all difficulties and grinded out their equipment to the best of their ability.

Ohh well I guess not everyone can love D3s story for the truely glorious trash that it is like I do.

I have one character left to get to level 60, and it's surprise, surprise a Demonhunter.

I am a diablo hipster.

Some interesting stats from the first few weeks of Diablo3

Quote from: Blizzard forums
On average players have created 3 characters each
80% of characters are between levels 1 and 30
1.9% of characters have unlocked Inferno difficulty
54% of Hardcore players chose a female character
The majority of Hardcore deaths (35%) occur in Act I Normal
The most common level 60 build in the game is only used by 0.7% of level 60 characters of that class (not including Passive diversity)
The most used runes for each class at level 60 are Barbarian: Best Served Cold, Demon Hunter: Lingering Fog, Wizard: Mirror Skin, Monk: Peaceful Repose, Witch Doctor: Numbing Dart

I wonder how those stats would stack up now it's been out a while?

Actually, where did you get those stats

Dev blog here

So the new meta is crit-barbarians using high end *read "hundreds of dollars worth of gear from the RMAH"* to perma-Wrath of the Berserker, which is... naturally... pretty strong, maybe even broken like my crit-wizard build.

Basically, critical hits are the new brokenness.

EDIT: In before nerf.

A return to D2 is what most people wanted in the first place. Blizz is just catering to the will of the playerbase! We should be happy!

Now we're just short runewords so everyone can have the same duped Enigma, and charms to fill up those unnecessary inventory slots.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

There is a new invulnerability glitch.

By some coincidence, I also finished act 3 and 4 of inferno over the last 3 hours.

As a wizard, you need archon and teleport:fracture. Keybind teleport:fracture (this step may not be important). Teleport to your current location using the non-standard bound key and immediately press archon. If you did it right, you won't see the fractures split off. Nothing can now hurt you.
