It's mostly just a typical text-based RPG/MMO, as far as gameplay goes. Players can explore the world (complete with player made dwellings), protect the outposts from attacks by the monsters, and more. The game is pretty funny, along the lines of the Kingdom of Loathing. From the dreadful [citation needed] to the Zombie Puppies, the monster descriptions are hilarious.
The premise of the story surrounding the game is pretty simple:
You have been (kidnapped?) entered into a reality TV show. You must find the "Improbability Drive", and destroy it. The story I've uncovered so far about the Watcher (she seems to be in charge of the show) and the world is pretty well thought-out and expanded.
The battles, while quite amusing, can be quite bland. Most enemies simply have 3-6 different body parts. You can attack one body part each round, flail randomly, or activate your brain implant (chosen at the beginning of the game. It gives you some different bonuses. Mine can, at my level, either give me bonus money at the end of fights or improve attack damage a lot for one battle). The foe's body parts can be one of a few status, such as 'Vulnerable', 'Guarded', or 'Powerattacking'. This leads to a few different strategies and risks that you may take, but most of the time I've found that just attacking vulnerable or highly damaged body parts, stopping only to stop a powerattack, is pretty effective.
After you get the skill 'Timed Combat', (can only be learned by other players...if you post here with your username before I log off, I'll teach it to you
) you can double your attack and defense by attacking at exactly the time set at each round, from 4-7 seconds. This leads to both reducing server load, and you playing a metronome at all times. But it is quite beneficial if you can get the time right, and lets you level up much faster (you have to beat your Master to level up once your experience is full).
You
are limited to how much you can do each game day (4 hours) by a Stamina bar. You can replenish this by using food and other means. You can also 'save up' game days if you don't log in during one, and it will be stored in a "chronosphere" to be activated later.. You can store a limit of 2 new days at a time. Each time you use an action, you gain experience in that action, which will reduce the amount of stamina it takes to use it.
The playerbase is also quite nice, and there are a TON of active roleplayers.
