Heard the news earlier. Not concerned, just another celebrity. I'll cry when a child is born in Africa with AIDs because their parents don't believe in viruses, only evil spirits. Funny how more than half the population of the world, including large portions of every 1st world country, still thinks like that.

I'm crying now...

Wish my cat was smart enough to have cleaned her kittens. They all suffocated because she just wont wash them... Then she didn't wash her own ass for a week.

Yep. You have to wash the mucus and crap off their faces because it initially covers their mouth and nose.
My cat had that problem during her first pregnancy, so we had to do it ourselves to "teach her". We did however, lose one kitten. Not sure if it was a stillborn or if it suffocated. We found it lying in a pool of blood in a drawer box under a bed. At least she and we have learned from last time. Two healthy kittens and possibly more to come.

Birthing is a brutal process.  The "miracle of life and childbearing" only came about after drugs.  Before then it was "OH HELL KILL ME NOW THIS HURTS!"

Calling birth a "miracle" had to have been someone's cruel idea of irony. I'm just glad I'm a dude, and that I'll never have to...or at least, not with current technology.

Someone wrote a story that appeared in Asimov's short story book "Trilogy" where an openly gay couple discovered that one of the men had an unborn twin who'd been absorbed into his body when he was growing up.  According to former medical doctrine, the lump would be cut out.  According to current (sci-fi) medicine, the unborn child could be rescued and was therefore considered a person who could be saved, and apparently abortion was illegal as well because he took the child to term.  I didn't read the whole thing, as I recall the writing style was the sort that made you loiter over every word as if it were a mismatched, uneven stepping stone in a narrow rock path.  Why anyone loves to write in such cumbersome way is beyond me.
