Four Step Anti-Blackout

1. Surgically implant ATP energy drains in your neighbors while they sleep.

2. Wait for blackout to occur.

3. ???

4. Profit! (And light! [And possibly cops. {I promise nothing.}])

-snip-
Could you show me where it says that he want's to declare being homosexual a crime?
Yeah, he wants gay marriage to be illegal, but that's hardly the same thing.

http://advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2011/08/06/Protests_Over_Perrys_Prayer_Event/
http://motherjones.com/mojo/2011/08/flashback-rick-perry-supports-criminalizing-gay-sex

He wants being gay, having gay sex, being gay a criminal offense. If anyone says "you can be celibate and not be criminal under this," then that person can just consider doing that themselves before they talk to me. Holy shit do you realize what this means? This means your only defense to this criminal statute if you were gay would be to somehow prove your virginity.... This isn't really possible and even if it is just wow. You should never have to do that and I shouldn't have to say you shouldn't have to do that.

"So what exactly has Perry done? Well, for one, he is (still) a supporter of the Texas "homosexual conduct" statute, an archaic law that made it a crime for two consenting, unrelated adults to have sex if they were of the same gender. The law was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in the landmark 2002 case Lawrence v. Texas, but, despite repeated efforts, Texas has yet to formally repeal the statute. When Perry was asked about the Lawrence case in 2002, he defended the anti-sodomy statute: "I think our law is appropriate that we have on the books." He wrote about the case in his 2011 book Fed Up, too, citing the Lawrence decision as the product of "nine oligarchs in robes" and an example of what's wrong with our judicial system. And last spring, when Perry ran for his third full term as governor, he did so on a state GOP platform that exlicitly stated "we oppose the legalization of sodomy.""

He is directly opposed to everything Lawrence v. Texas stood for when it finally made it so "Sodomy" or "being gay and having sex" wasn't a crime. He is currently the governor of Texas and under his governorship, the state has failed to repeal the law though the supreme court has declared it unconstitutional....  He was the key force to the State trying to defend the law banning gays from ever having sex under penalty of law. This isn't history, this only happened in 2003 and he's still fighting this fight today.... Bastard wrote a book on it...! His homophobia is part of the reason he wants to rewrite the constitution to weaken the federal courts.  "Checks and Balances" needs to check this idiot....

Consensual relations between two adults.... This bastard has the audacity to say he wants smaller government with a straight face but he wants to have 1984 big brother in my bedroom...? Stay out of my bedroom! Go to hell swiftly Mr. Perry; hit every rock on the way down while incinerating in agony, please.

Apologies for my ignorances on the matter, but not being a US citizen (not that we dont have such attitudes in the UK, they just seem to be far less prevalent at an attention grabbing level) I find it hard to beleive that individuals can feel they have a right to run for public office with such an agenda. Using your "freedom" to supress that of others is a travesty.

Your "ignorances" are signs of your decency. You wouldn't think such things could happen, much less that they should. I should rather have more people like you than not. No apologies required from you.

Looking on the bright side, he has no chance either of becoming president or getting that agenda into effect.

On this subject, we also have this fella.
Ugandan preacher, claims he is trying to prevent the spread of AIDS, through making homosexuality punishable by death.
He sees himself as the head of the "National Taskforce against Homosexuality in Uganda", and has had one of his "sermons" go viral, after using pornography to display his ideas.
Condemned by the president and other world powers, this man continues regardless to campaign for a disgusting and wrong law that will never happen.

Discuss.

I know this story. He was "inspired" by a visiting US evangelical missionary. Can't look up the details at the moment though.

He might also try to make more prominent issues on which he is not so obviously fighting a losing battle. I still don't think he has a chance, but unfortunately even people who think gay marriage ought be legalized might decide that's unimportant compared to some other thing.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I would discuss, but all I can think of is people like him deserve an aneurysm, which isn't really a useful comment.
