a question for the hardmode community, has someone tried sunflowers for corruption/hallow/crimson containment?. according to the wiki the 1.2 update now makes them viable for this in hardmode, but i dont know if it they're actually used.

As far as I'm aware, the conditions for hardmode biome spread are kind of hazy (do you have to kill plantera first? does killing mech bosses turn it off? does it get turned on again somehow if turned off?) but if the spread is on 'hardmode' i.e fast they'll be ignored because hardmode spread allows biomes to spread through the ground and ignore the surface.

The Corruption/Crimson/Hallow spread starts off fast in hardmode and is slowed after killing Plantera. Haven't had a chance to see how sunflowers work in hardmode now, but unless you have been careful they will just be bypassed underground.

The sunflowers stop having an effect in hardmode.

Their effect before hard mode was pretty negligible... A small outcrop of stone would do just as well.

When I entered hardmode, the corruption started to consume my jungle. Sunflowers ain't so helpful there. I had to wall the entire thing off to save it (I had already built some walls around things, or down to the underworld prior to hardmode, but the corruption stripe went through part of the jungle).

Yeah, surface spread is really the least of anyone's worries.  It's the tangled mess of underground biome spread that is the real issue, and sunflowers can't help against that even if they did work.

Look up the clentaminator, sold by the steam punk. Will help clean up the world real easily.

Explosives.
Is there a method that doesn't involve tediously rebuilding the world after exploding it?

Clentaminator's 2 platinum, but it's pretty damn effective
Has about the same range as a flamethrower I think.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. The clentaminator's about a million times faster than exploding stuff even without rebuilding it.

AFAIK all events also depend on your OS clock, so you can tweak that if you want to go back to time-sensitive events.
I don't know, I think patch releases are ways the developer can turn on and off the events, and prevent cheating for certain things, kinda like with Cargo Commander, and the Christmas mode (festive home ship). After the event, game update happens, and it's no longer frosty inside. I didn't adjust the OS clock yet to see if it can come back though; but that's my feelings on the matter. I think Terraria's Halloween event might be similar.

Terrarias has been by setting the OS clock since the xmas event. Whether that will change now that new patches are coming out is unknown but I suspect it will remain the same.
