Just got Terraria: Hey Guys!
EDIT: Any experienced spriters out there willing to help me out? I'm submitting my wizard suggestion to the forums and a sprite is required. What I have in mind is a stereotypical old guy with a long white beard and a wizard hat, wearing a robe. Maybe carrying a staff.
Oh, and here's another idea. How about a Wizard NPC?
Requirements: Raise your mana (like nurse)
Function: He could send you on quest, things like "Get me 5 books from the dungeon" or "Kill 10 blue slimes". He will reward you with money or maybe even by adding a spell to the shop/just plain giving the spell to you. He could also have a magic shop (see below for details).
He also requests you add stuff to his room once in a while, ranging from one of those skull candle things to a cooking pot to a toilet (he does stop, because it would be annoying if he just kept demanding things all noble-like).
Store: He sells the herb seeds, and possibly a few weak spells (see next spoiler). Also sells a wizard hat for an exorbitant price. Also, he should be able to sell different things during different events or phases of the moon (maybe not moon phases?).
Other effects: In the event of a goblin invasion or if he is hit/attacked by monster(s), he will cast spells to protect himself. He should also have his own mana pool that doesn't regenerate until the invasion ends, so that players can't just rely on him to repel attacks.
1. "Fireball": Acts and is weaker like Water Bolt, minus the ricochet and with a ball of fire similar to Flamelash and Flower of Fire.
2. "Starfall": Drops a star where you click; like Starfury but weak.
3. "Ice Shard": Exactly what it says. A shard of ice. Has a chance of causing the frozen status effect, which slows the enemy down by a percentage.
4. "Thorn Ring": Shoots Vilethorns around you in a clockwise circle (not all at the same time). Similar going-through-walls effect and damage, but higher mana cost. One of his more expensive spells.
5. "Spark": Summons a controllable missile like Magic Missile and Flamelash, except weaker.
EDIT2: Here's the actual thread on the Terraria forums. Go out there and read it, and tell me about some glaringly obvious spelling/grammar mistake I may have made.
