Hurm...
Mrm...
So he lost his old passive. To be fair, I always thought it was a dumb passive to begin with. I'm not saying it's a bad passive (there are worse...) but it never sync'd with what Jax did. Jax is a duelist. Duelists don't need hp! They stack lifesteal and spellvamp and derp away. HP doesn't work with that. All it did was make him a pain in the ass for burst casters but it's the same for almost every tanky dps... even those that don't get free hp. Having his ult's passive as his actual passive does indeed make more sense. It seems nice having it straight from level 1. So I'd say I like this one more.
His new ultimate. Seems pretty good. It lost the bonus MR but pfft... who the hell ever used it for that? Seriously. Now it gives a large amount of AP and AD. That's good.
Empower got straight up buffed. Leap strike got nerfed. It kinda balances out since both of them did about equal damage.
Man, counterstrike's cooldown is really long... You'll probably see it... what? Once per fight? Maybe twice? Definitely can't compare to what it used to be.
So all in all, looks like he took a big hit to his tankiness while getting a boost to damage. Guess we'll have to see how big this affects him in the long run. I'm not really sure if the tankiness thing really affects him much, because Jax's survivability came almost 100% from his endless lifesteal and spellvamp. As we all know... stacking HP doesn't sync very well with lifesteal or spellvamp in the first place, so he doesn't lose much. Considering he's going to do even more damage now, which entails even more lifesteal and spellvamp... it could be a problem.
