They really need to put in harsher punishment for q dodging. Maybe cumulative. The more you q dodge, the worse the punishment.

Just saw the spotlight, holy shit, now the chinese teams have another source of massive AoE damage. He seems hella strong in teamfights as he can just sit back and hurl death from afar as things like singed and alistar keep people off him, people will need to alter their comp to use strong assassins capable of murdering him early on so he doesn't rape your team in teamfights, he's basicaly veigar without the crazy scaling but with kog's range and more AoE.

Anyone else having trouble these last few days? I'm playing on the EU-West server, and it's been near-unplayable. Disconnects, 2 second lagspikes, etc.

My opinion:

Okay, let's see. Right off the bat his passive looks dumb. 15% of total AP to armour is silly as hell. It'll take 300 AP for him to get 45 armour. If you start with 30 AP, you get an extra 4.5 armour. Whoop de freaking do. I guess it could be worse but armour on a super long distance artillery is... errr.... it's really dumb.

His Q looks really scary. With 40% CDR, that Q is on a 3 second cooldown. Combined with mage boots and his w (and 9 in offense mastery), that's an extra ~55% damage (it scales multiplicatively and I can't be arsed to do the math) and even greater range. Maaaan.... I dont want to fight that.

His W is his W. What concerns me is the 30% spellpen. If you look at the base damages of his spells, that's some Annie level nuke right there. Seriously. Like Annie he has 3 abilities that can do damage and scale with AP. His ratios are similar to her too. He can actually do MORE damage than Annie at level 6 if he lands all three Rs. So, that combined with a gigantic amount of passive spellpen AND huge range is... well... it's gonna hurt.

His E is where I see some severe problems appear. This is basically a direct target stun with enormous range. Think about it logically.... you WILL get stunned by him. How can you juke his Q and all his Rs? He'd have to be a really crappy player. The problem is the huge range. If I'm not mistaken, the range of his E is equivalent to Morgana's maximum distance dark binding. Except that isn't a stun and has a long travel time (nor is it direct target). This is a lot scarier as it's like a hyper long range Sion. I really don't think that can be good in any way.

In fact.... I think you could actually max his E first and scale Q second. An instant target 300 damage nuke seems far scarier than his Q.

His ultimate... well... let's just say he only needs to hit two of them to exceed Tibbers damage. Again, with ridiculous range and half the cooldown.

Tl;dr: He's going to rape people.

First game with Malz, lane vs Xerath.

Win game.

Not to say he isn't good, he's great in my opinion, and if he's good this early after release then he'll really ramp up after people master him.

Frankly, Kassadin should destroy Xerath.

Thinking about buying Harbinger Kassadin just to rub it in.

Xerath is fun, not to mention very effective. I bought him right off the bat.
Silliest mistake was rooting in front of the tower and the wondering why he wouldn't move when I pulled tower aggro.

Still, had a lot of fun as my stealthy bush/FoW-mage.

Unfortunately Magic Pen % gives diminishing returns. You can get the mastery and a Void Staff and still only be at 49%, rather than 55 like one would think. Though with his innate ability, I can see both of those being fairly useful.

Xerath's passive is gloriously underwhelming. You get a free chain mail from a full AP build. Not that bad but not really awesome, Riot has become careful with free gold passives.

He's a specialist kind of hero. Actually, imagine a kite/poke team consisting of Xerath, Lux, Koggy, Alistar and Janna. Dear god.
