Looks great, but I don't like the talk of Cotton Candy. If you release the clowns, we will save scum your turn. ;/ And that's bad.
The flowing magma concerns me a bit as well. But this is how succession games go. I almost don't want to see what it will look like on my turn. XD.
And yess, all dirt everywhere should be made into a pasture cave for the animals. Some selective slaughter might work as well, I'll probably handle that myself when my turn comes.
Other than that, looks good Garrett. Keep it up. (and don't die to that flame beast)
I'll take all precautions with clowns. We can do just a few bites around candy stick... anyway, it's quite long-term plans
Flame beast is flying at seald second caverns, we don't have access there and I don't think we should breach it again - those pastures soon turn to ashes. Fuck.

Carpenter made mahogany crutch named Bithitusen "Shornhelped". It has image of little penguins. Cute!

16th Galena
Human caravan has arrived. I think it's the last caravan we're taking at poor depot next to pastures. We've almost done with nice lead-silver platform over volcano. The most annoying traders will have their last travel down to hell - let them bargain with demons!

11th Limestone
We got goblin snatcher caught at the gates. I wonder what would we do with him?

Traders had nothing of interest, except wood and a few bags of dye.

We made safe entrance to first cavern - it's protected with one-way hatch over hole and raising bridge, and now we're working on sealing its' edges...
We had a cave-in incident while digging for stone. Two died, two injured. Also a cave spider is spotted... We have to capture him!

26th Limestone
Spider started to capture us. It killed two war bears and one war dog. With a hard feeling I had to give order to kill it. I hope we'll got another one soon, when we're prepared.

all non-dorfed. Died animal dissector and soap maker, injured are stone worker and metal crafter.

While all dorfs were busy with plumbing holes at caverns, camels were involved in racist's actions

We have to tolerate them and teach that however many humps one has, one shouldn't be considered as a subanimal!

15th Sandstone
We've got two grizzly bear cubs born! I'll lock them in a cage, so they can mature and be trained

20th Sandstone
Troll began to scare away our workers. Military dealt with him without a scratch.
Also migrants came. 9 dwarfs who brought two lambs and a puppy. Just when they arrived, they stumble upon goblin snatchers and injured rhino. there were some panic and runnings, but eventually everything was fine

9th Timber
Finally the cavern is safe. The only wild specie that dwells there is a lonely gorlak. I left him wander there intentionally, just to bring some life there. I'm thinking of building there some capturing device, so anyonel who enter the cave will get to the cage

one thing we should be careful are animals and migrants. since they come on a 1X1 line, or 2X2 sometimes, and they dodge animals...they might end in the magma moat...while for migrants it's not quite a loss, if it's about liasions or the likes...

journal entry

thank armok i was NOT mining there. and neither was Khenal. We ended up fine elsewhere. We lost two brave souls however. Everything is going to be fine...we just need to keep ourselves far away from temptations...any kind of floodgate would do i suppose...with that project floodgate will start a new.

15th Timber
Liaison and trade caravan has arrived. Lets see what they have... By the way, we dismounted old depot and are using the new one. Here's the picture of fortress surface:

Depot have lead plate 7x7 tiles large at the basement, and four lead supports that prevent it from falling into magma. It's surrounded by four silver bridges and four silver supports. Above each support pair - silver+lead we have 2x2 silver floor section that can be used for decorations and statues. In a few words, when supports are dismounted, lead part drops down. Silver part remains intact.

Also there you see bridgeway. It's the main way for guests, migrants and invaders who got through cage traps. I should link bridges to lever, to make it safer.

And there are Honey Hill with the dozen of hives, and me splitting one colony to empty hive.

Uh, actually levers weren't installed yet. But I'm working on it! I'll try to not forget to mark the levers...

Liaison asked me about promoting a baron... Who should I choose? Cookie, our broker? Khenal, stonedwarf? Shade of the Night, the previous ruler? Or Jake Beartrainer... Or even myself?
I know nothing about Cookie's likes, but others have personality screnshots posted...

*Journal Entry 36*

So, Shade retired as leader and that beekeeper guy, Peregarrett got the position.  Naturally, his first order was for a dozen hives.  He looks like he's planning on using a small hill for the hives.  It'll be interesting to watch him work, I've never had mead before.

*Journal Entry 37*

Apparently there's something wrong with the moat, I hear it's leaking.  At least it's leaking outside and not inside, I think.  Shade is pretty worried about it, though.

*Journal Entry 38*

Holy crap!  A big blob of fire wandered into one of the caverns!  It even has wings!  I can smell the smoke of the cave fungus burning from in the mine shafts.  A shame to loose all that potential graze land, the camels are getting a bit crowded.

*Journal Entry 39*

Tragedy struck today.  One of the newbie miners collapsed a shaft, killing two and injuring two more.  I'm just glad that Shade is alright.

*Journal Entry 40*

Apparently, we're large enough and well off enough to be classified as a barony.  Huh.  Looks like Peregarrett was also surprised, he's asking around wondering who he should recommend to baron/baroness.  It'd be interesting to be a baroness, but I wonder if I'd still be able to continue my various stoneworkings.

Cool, a barony.  Of the named people, who looks like they have the easiest likes to deal with?

I don't see any problems with any of them.
You, Khenal, like dolomite, gold, red flash opal, beds, large gems, ballista parts and night creatures. Large gems demand can be annoying, but can be fulfilled.
Jake likes slate, bronze, mango wood, shark leather, buffalo hoof, axes, boots, slabs, reindeers and cave dragons. Shark leather could be a problem, but we can get it from humans
Shade - diorite, aluminum, red diamond, gauntlets, pigs and giant toads. Aluminum could be a headache, but still accessible from traders
Me is for alabaster, nickel silver, purple spinel and crystal glass, turkeys and muck roots. Crystal glass is a serious pain in ass, since it's bugged... was bugged, didn't mess with it at last version.
And Cookie is our "dark horse"

you should look who has easiest metal/object he likes.
we have a lot of obsidian, and silver and lead.
find someone who likes that and were fine. just remember if he like silver, he'll ban export of silver. etcetera

if cookie gets magmaed because he makes unreasonable beatings, we lose our master cooker. and i don't think that barons Work...do they?
it would be better to grab one who is relatively easy to control.
i'd say a random UN-married dwarf. who loves obsidian.
because if a baron is married, the other half becomes noble too...and mandates start incoming... (at least, i think)

Yep, thats what I mean by !!Fun!!
I can't check any dwarf preferences for now. I have that conversation started and Therapist doesn't show their likes. So I'm bored trying to remember what materials we have and what we can easily produce... and so I'm having 'Fuck that' feeling. So, I think it should be one of named dwarves, but random one.
