Legendary axedwarf with a broken finger
« on: April 21, 2011, 06:31:30 pm »

The leader of one of my squads, a Legendary Axedwarf, someone broke one of her fingers and has been sitting in the hospital with a suture/dressing request for a few seasons now.  I have at least one dwarf with High Master on one or more of the healthcare skills with the doctors having all labors disabled except for healthcare-related ones.  I've tried things like disassembling the hospital from around her and moving the hospital zone to somewhere else.  The hospital has plenty of supplies.  I have yet to set up a spike trap under her and see if I can get her re-injured so she will get some kind of treatment.  So far she is lying on the floor sleeping and waiting for something to happen.

I really don't want to have to starve a mostly-legendary axedwarf, with a named weapon, because she has a broken finger.

Any suggestions at all?

I just hope he dies the same death that all dwarfs deserve: liver disease.

I have a hammerlord with one leg O.o He didn't receive any treatment, they just gave him a crutch and told him to deal with it.

What does it say under their treatment history? How skilled is your diagnostic skill? Do they have thread and cloth in the hospital? Are you playing 31.25?

I think they need a splint for a broken finger as well, unless it's been ripped off.

I've tried this too.  Nobody is paying her any mind.  I've had a handful of other dorfs go in and out of the hospital just fine up to this point.  It's like healthcare was suddenly turned off.

edit: How strange.  I stationed her squad when the caravan showed up and she got up out of bed and stationed herself.  When I took them off station, she went back to the hospital where she was immediately patched up and went back to duty.

My guess would be she was still considered "on duty" even in the hospital, and such the doctors didn't want to touch her. Giving the squad new orders reset that flag.
