A short hop to Alpha C is still my vote. First contact should be peaceful.

Alpha C is a good choice. I agree to send Caelum Viator here.

As for the peaceful first contact... Yes. Only to see who is the stronger. If we can take control of their planets, we will take control of their planets.

Remember, people, the events on Jupiter. New Zealand fired first, thinking they were attacking a lesser nation. Three days later, there was a goddamn battle involving half of the nations on Earth, New Zealand got destroyed and Jupiter no longer exists. They attacked something stronger than themselves, and they paid the price. Sorry for bringing that topic up, australian, but I needed a good example... Anyway. We don't want Earth to be destroyed because we attacked something too big for us.

Oh goddamn it. SHUT THE CAMERAS OFF!

And jupiter is still there. What, you think humanity can make a sun? Peaceful first contact should be a priority, as we know nothing of other sentient species.

As the mediator of these proceedings I would like to point out Jupitor is still there, but it does not produce nearly as many useful resources for anything that orbital stations can pick up anymore. If Jupitor did not exist our colonies on some of it's moons would be gone as well, and they are still thriveing.

Good thing it wasn't feasible to build HE-3 stations for jupiter, otherwise our powers stations would be non-functioning.

Sorry for my mispelling. Jupiter still exists and is still here, but it's no longer useful. It's, in my eyes, nothing, and it is sad because this planet had a great potential.

Sending the ship to Alpha C has gained the most votes, are there any other suggestions before we decide on this matter?  First Contact Protocal is still up for discussion, though peaceful seems to be favored at this time.

Send a few probes out first, we won't be able to contact it after the ship jumps.

Germany would like to suggest that the first thing to do when in a First Contact is to wait and watch, to see if the natives are peaceable. Also, not to give them any technology.

At the moment we are working on FTL communications but they are not quite possible yet.

How does the drive work? What are we looking at for energy expenditure?

*insert technobabble on how it works here*, The engery expenditure is high but not extreme, the only reason we made this ship now was becouse previous attempts at FTL drives took far too much energy to be worth it, perhaps in time we can fix this problem.

First Contact protocol, as drawn up by the Peoples Republic of Eastern Europe (formerly Eastern European Union, formerly U.E.E)

Code: (The Emperor Vladivik Plan) [Select]

Step 1: First contact is made. All attempts are made to withdraw from the contact situation and assess from a safe vantage.

Step 2a: If contact is deemed safe, contact is resumed with alien species, attempts are made to learn the native tongue and teach them ours.

Step 3a: If species shows promise, and if they consent, induct into the Sol Alliance. If they do not agree, proceed to step 2b.

Step 2b: If species is hostile, fortify position and assess threat. If threat is negligble, proceed to 3b. If threat is significant, retreat.

Step 3b: Assault and capture major population centers. If resistance persists, heavy firepower is allowed.

Germany agrees with this plan and would like to add that one of the colonists ought to be selected specifically for his or her ability to make good decisions, and should be granted power to enforce these guidelines.
