theres people like that for every console, though, and jackasses in every music genre, i have a worse experience with black metal fans than with death metal fans, the later are often more concerned with remedying their state of sobriety than to conform with any "trve"ness, the black metal crowd is the one with a history of burning churches to be trver

Uhm and why Nintendo-gamers?
In my opinion, they are the most tolerant people of the console crowd.

Because I'm tired of being told that either
A: I'm not a gamer because I don't worship Zelda and Ocarina of Time
B: I'm not a gamer because I liked my sega more than my nintendo.

It's still a silly reason for disliking all those people.
Every group has their black sheep.

My former best friend is a death metal fan and nintendo enthusiast and I still like him tons, did you actually read my post properly?

My favourite people are usually historians, not-death metal musicians and non-nintendo gamers.

I don't say they're bad people, they're just usually not among my favourite people. A big difference here.

I've read it properly, but from the sound of it, it seemed like you'd be preposessed when faced with certain groups of people.
Good to hear, that this is not the case.

Not to derail this talk of gamers and metal, but...

Did no one comment on the logical flaw in GamerKnights argument? That being, conformity breeds peace and security - and yet, that only works if the people conforming are conforming to an ideal of peace and security.

It's perfectly possible for everyone to be exactly the same and still be miserable asshole psychos to one another. Then you get a situation where, since they know exactly what the other person is thinking, they know that person will be just as much an asshole psycho to them if they don't do it first, you know? And if you've got the part where they confirm to an ideal of peace and security, you don't need any of the OTHER parts to conform to achieve it.

It's just nonsensical!

Hey, if I cloned myself, so I was the only person remaining... All of my flaws would be massive, and my perks would be weaker.... That same thing would apply to GK's arguement.

I already mentioned that, citing that if everyone in the world were me then there would be a lot more irritable women who play good scumgames running around IRL.

I don't know if I'm happy or angry that he left.  When the other debater just walks out, it gets really hard to feel like you spent your time doing something worthwhile.

Yeah, it's annoying to think of the possibility that this may have somehow fortified his position on the subject.

Diversity's necessary for society to function in any reasonable manner anyway.  I don't think there's anyone you can point at and say "society would work great if everyone was a carbon copy of them" (although in some cases it could be quite entertaining).

The "Genetic or a choice" aspect was mentioned a while ago... I can sortof see why some LGBT groups want to show it as genetic - if you're born with something, it's a lot easier to make a moral case against discrimination on the grounds of it.  It could also stop anyone who's trying to "cure" homosexuals, and anyone who's trying to stop media outlets from "promoting homosexuality" (incidentally, if it were possible, I would be strongly in favour of it as a measure against overpopulation).

It is exposed a short sighted view when you realise it's "we can't help it" rather than "it's ok", though...

No, now they want to cure it even more, by either editing DNA to remove the "gay genes" or somehow else, seriously. It was the most stupid thing to do.

Well, I guess there'll always be a baseline of people who don't understand genetics.  But I was thinking more in terms of those brainwashing type courses.

Still flourishing. There was even released an APP to Iphones that should help cure gays, Dunno how, but that Apple actually accepted(? Can't remember a better english word, certified?) it should speak lengths.
