Put on sunglasses, say a clever joke related to nuclear explosions.

I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

Urrrg...

How does one represent dates in a universe where time doesn't necessarily have to be linear?

EDIT:

Even if we just pretend it's linear, what would the date be? I guess they'd start counting at the beginning of the simulation...

use references maybe? not sure.
hmm what do you mean by "not linear"? do you mean circular, or ad-hoc?

Well... it's a bit confusing.

There's a few things in Netland that just don't make sense. Like, how can Raccoon City be nuked every time someone goes there to see it nuked? Non-linear time might be a good answer to that problem, but it also fucks things up majorly.

Of course, I could also say it uses time travel, but then things would get awfully crowded at major events.

Maybe if each time you go somewhere to see a major event, the universe splits off into a new 'session'... Ugh.

Maybe if I just avoided the problem entirely and just say that Umbrella keeps rebuilding Raccoon City every time it gets nuked. That makes sense, and is also humourus.

But then, you have Star Trek and the King Arthur myths in the same universe as well, having different stated dates...

But then dates and measurements of time are solely human things anyway, they don't really relate to how reality has to work. So you could just say that it's 1400 where it's 1400, and 3200 where it's 3200. But then that makes dates pretty useless for anyone who travels...

And none of this solves the "Just when the hell is it anyway?" problem.

hmm...
maybe it happens at parallel times?  :o
basically, time is relative to each person, and parallel to each other person's.
so events happen one time, but they happen relatively to different people at different relative timepoints. this means that people with the same speed and relative time would be experiencing things at the same time.

OMG this is a breakthrough  :D :D
(mostly kidding  ;))

...
or it just gets factory-rebuilt every time  :P
