Did you guys end up organizing the tournament? I finished exams but still have 18 days to unbanishment...
Everything's just kinda fizzled. No one wanted to do it, or wasn't interested enough in EVE to actually participate.

Yeah, I'm not playing much EVE at the moment. It goes in cycles, I'll play for a few months then stop for a few months when I get bored. I'm still up for pvp roams/tournaments etc, you'll just have to tell me on the forums rather than in game.

I've not been on much since my skills I'm training have between a week and a month to do, and I'm not often around for prime mining time. I swear I'll be of use eventually!

I'm looking at a 15 day training queue right now. Just don't feel much incentive to log on to grind mission rep, or anything.

I am still mining on weekdays. Playing more actively on weekends if I am not away from home.

Will be more active once my Summer patch training is done, just 10 more days.

So.. Bye.

I'm sorry, this game just isn't fun for me. My subscription recently expired, and I don't think I'll renew it. I love the whole idea of a sandbox where your actions matter, but in the end Eve's core (non-meta) gameplay mechanics feel terrible. At its core, Eve is neither fun nor engaging for me. Actual activities (mission running, mining, playing the market) aren't particularly entertaining, so why am I doing them? It doesn't get better. I'd rather play a game that I enjoyed every minute of than one where I'm working towards a vague end goal that I'm not even sure will be particularly rewarding.

Once the whole "awesome, space sandbox" feel wears off, all that's left to me is how flawed the mechanics feel. It's a huge time sink that barely returns the satisfaction to keep you playing, and charges for it. It's not a long-term goal that I dislike, it's that reaching this goal isn't fun. It's not particularly engaging in other ways either.

Meh. o7

I have hardly run a mission since the tutorials, have never mined since I skipped that tutorial, and dont play the market at all.

All I do is undock cheap frigates and go find some PVP in low sec as part of Faction War.  The LP I get for kills or waiting for fights covers the cost of frigates nicely.  "Mission running, mining, playing the market" sounds like a different game.

It comes down to the fact that I don't enjoy eve's combat. In the end, it feels like generic mmo-style combat with a little added depth in the form of transversals/distances.

Ahhh Eve... it always frustrates me, but I always miss it. My girlfriend makes fun of me for always wanting to come back :) I started in the days of yore, first or second year, and have been coming back once in a blue moon.

I'm happy to hear there is a B12 corp running, if I ever make it back I would love to join it.

Just to respond to what's to do - missions, market and mining are simply side aspects. You do those as a safe way to gather resources for the rest of the game. The game is about corporations - take over space, control planets, mine resources, build stations. The more you own, the more others will want to take it - so you defend it. In a way, Eve is practically a strategy game, where you are one of the units. Because it has so many things to do, all of them specialized, you are forced to cooperate on a large scale. But when you do, you can make a lot of things.

Or, you can say screw it to holding space and go take someone else's resources. That works too.

Honestly, I don't think you ever experienced EVE's combat outside of missions and PvE stuff, the excitement's in the PvP. EVE's PvE is the boring stuff you have to go through to fund your PvP fun.

I respect your decision to quit though, been considering it myself.
