well you already arrayed the possibilities:
A) different Religion result-> Crusades, Massive Wars with Cult Followers of all directions(even eventually recessed ones
B) Secession-> Crusades,Massive Wars with Cult Followers
C) Insert different Patriarch -> propably nothing of the above
D) Destroy Chuch -> widespread terrorism,uprisings,revolts, Crusades from the other Houses...

So much fun But joining forces with "Old Annoying Zealous Theocratic Government" seems worse ;p Besides we will at least have excuse for our conquests. By the way we got some kind of long range communication right ? Or we need to establish connection with Church somehow ?

at the moment only the local ( if any ) monastery forces of the Cult are still having some quite antique long range communications...the rest of you has barely some military equipment from before the Downfall left and about the Rest you are at World War II Technology level...this means you have no idea how to rebuild the stuff , you are barely able to hold it together...however you are mostly far above the average Technology level of the planet

@adwarf if you decide to be heathen you need another religion...and i jsut want to remind you that this will bring you into heavy fights with the Church from the Beginning on...

Well i was wondering what could old civilization remains do on backwater planet like that and only few things come to my mind :
a) Military outpost to send annoying commanders to ;p or local nuclear bomb counterpart testing grounds <- that would be fun ;p
b) Some kind of survivor encampment - but that would mean total secession from the church/other houses.
c) Some kind of mining expedition - but that would mean we are bit military unexperienced.

Crpitfiend, you need to splice poker player genes into your diplomats so they won't jump into this murderous rampage when meeting with Church visitors ;p

The Church always warlike had stockpiled enormous amounts of weaponry and ammunitions even before the Downfall

Although they have fallen back some great bit they are far superior in Technology then any other Nation(Except for the Triumvirat). Imagine Guys with Fancy Guns, Power-Armor and Long Range Communications minus Space Travel and the Means for Producing that stuff in great amounts.

A Special Case is the Inquisition.Inquisitiors are said to be superhumans and have managed to aquire a small flotilla of ships from The Triumvirat as even they fear them...so if somebody is soon finding ships starting from a Earth-like Planet near him...congrats you have found the Home Fortress of the Patriarch...

@taricus do you really want to be Xenophile on a Planet resembling Imperialist Great Britain? Those Aliens are treated like animals and well...the other nations want to keep it like that...hint hint
