The largest shell fragment is to be sawed into a very large spear, with kelp trunk used to add mass and grip. The spear is so large it will take 15 Floatune to "float" it along. 10 smaller spears are to be created also in the same fashion, about the right size to be used by a single Floatune each.  5 Floatune armed with these smaller spears are to go on a scouting party, looking for the shelled creatures. They are to report back when they are found. If the population isn't high enough to form a hunting party 28 strong, then consume some of the food to get the population to about 35.

The few idle Floatune left will explore higher up the Kelp Tree, perhaps searching for a domestic-able creature.

Welcome to the Late Tribal Era!

The Triath send out people to look for non-contaminated food, and begin stockpiling the ore and researching potential uses for it, while the explorers are to collect coral and bring it back to the nest for further investigation. Miners are also sent to make more tunnels and find more ore.
Food is found, and things are investigated. Mines are made.

The Caerri set about rebuilding, using the the inside of the bones as their main source of shelter. Once inside their newfound shelter the Caerri begin to reproduce, secure homes and plentiful food make good incentives.
The Caerri now number 40, and are clamoring for a colony name, or something else to identify these claimed bones by.

The Kriblits scoff at the idea of attacking such a monster with nothing but a few sharp bits of shell.

Instead they start vibrateing and burrow under the ground. they move under the coral area and pop out for just a second to find the nearest shell critter. Then they burrow over to it and attack it's hopefully soft under belly with the sharp shell.

If they win they will pull the thing underground with them.
This one does indeed have a soft underbelly, and it quickly dies. However one of the Electroropes (as some Kriblits have named them) notices the speedily sinking creature, and a massive crack of thunder is heard throughout the area. The chieftain, armored in shell fragments, survives, but the rest of the team is either dead or half-unconscious and delirious. The creature was incinerated by the blast. The living stumble back, sometimes over each other, guided by the chieftain. Upon arrival, he immediately decrees that all explorers of the Electrorope Coral Field must be armored in a full body set of shell armor, and be less hasty in their dragging down to avoid the notice of the Electroropes and their doomblast.

Kriblets begin wondering which is more dangerous: the many-teethed beasts, or the Electroropes?

The Overseer commands the Peretics to build a small hospital. The Peretics also sew together some scraps of fabric gained from the chairs and fill a couple bags with the fluid.
The hospital is built, but by the time it is ready the unconscious ones are awake again. The bags darken to almost the same color as the liquid as they are filled.

The few idle Floatune left will explore higher up the Kelp Tree, perhaps searching for a domestic-able creature.
Food is eaten, and the Floatune now number 40. The largest shell fragment, almost a full shell, is brought out, and construction on the megaspear is begun as chunks of kelp trunk are brought to the site. (It will finish next turn)
Meanwhile, the smaller spears are created, given out, and a scouting party is formed. They find a rather flat area, and some fish of varied size swimming near the Sea Floor. they seem to be rather benign as far as you can tell from down here, and vegetarians.

some kind of underwater insect is found, only twice your size, in the higher branches. perhaps it could be domesticated.

The Peretics sort of get on with life. Though a few come up with the idea of tying the metal and coral shards together for weapons which are quickly snapped up by the warriors for use. Soon a group of 10 Peretics equipped with these weapons attempt to mob the smallest fish they can find to take it down

About 5 Floatune begin construction on a holding pin made out of the shells, with one side open up to the kelp tree. This will be high up near the insect, to keep it in its natural elevation. The top of it will be open.

Another 5 will cut up some soft kelp, and try to persuade the insect to come into the holding pin. If that fails, they will group up around it, taking care not to harm it, and force it into the holding pin. The holding pin, after the insect is secure, will be "girded" with strips of shell at the top, spaced out enough to let a Floatune through, but too small for the insect itself. These girders will not be secured too tightly, and should be able to be removed if 6 or so Floatune attempt to do so.

The rest of the Floatune will form a hunting party. 5 will act as scouts, 15 will hold the large spear, while the rest will hold the small spears. The scouts will search for a fish no larger than 20x the size of a Floatune, and then report back. The hunting party will use the following strategy when the fish is encountered:

The scouts will spread out around the battle scene, searching for potential predators that may be attracted to the action.

The 10 spear wielders will surround the fish, then corral it to the near by large spear. When it gets close enough, all 15 Floatunes will jet water in the opposite direction of the creature, thrusting the large spear toward it. If the fish tries to escape, it will run into one of the smaller spears surrounding it.

If everything goes well, the fish is to be carried with the spear still inside it back to the tree. It will be placed at the base, and workers will get straight to work harvesting every bit that can be used using "cutting" shells. Scales will be harvested to be used as decorations and Armour, skin to hold fluids, bone to form tools, and meat to act as food. This will likely take a few (insert turn time frame here), depending on the size of the beast.

Throughout this process Floatunes will "feed" on blood that escapes, to keep away predators from the great tree.

The bones are the bones of the great creature known only as the second, and the settlement is known as "The-first-among-equals" (It makes more sense if you're a Caerri.)

20 Caerri go out of their village and split into two equal groups of ten. One group travels up the bone of the great beast and the other travels down. Both of the work to grow more tethered food catches at regular intervals, they also lay a sort of pipe of tissue behind them that lets the floating filters transfer the extra food they collect to the Caerri Village.

The other 20 Caerri work to grow long filaments laden with nematocysts from the dome of tissue over the bone hole where they live, as protection from whatever lies outside their small world.

The Kriblits stagger back to the nest, knowing the heavy blow that has fallen on them today. In a effort to prevent such a disaster from happing again they organize a search party and send it off to find more shells.

From now on armor will be the word of the day.

From now on armor will be the word of the day.
The armor-maker is given many more shell fragments found during the searches, and he quickly becomes a master of the art, the only thing keeping him from fame being the fact that only the small Kriblit colony knows of him.

A Legendary Shell Armorsmith has been born among the Kriblit!

The bones are the bones of the great creature known only as the second, and the settlement is known as "The-first-among-equals" (It makes more sense if you're a Caerri.)

Some fish swim over, interested in the unusual appearance of the organic mass that is the Caerri colony. Some look rather...hungry. WAIT or PRE-EMPTIVELY DEFEND?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The insect pounces on one Floatunes during the corralling attempt and sniffs it. It growls menacingly, What shall be done?

The Spear Flotoon (:P) sneakily float near the fish, and fling the spear into the largest non-teethed fish seen, spearing it through the side! It takes the entire group of hunters to heave it back, but there will be no shortage of food for many turns!

The Triath begin researching the properties and possible applications of the ore and the coral, and explorers are sent to find some sort of animal that could be domesticated and farmed.
The Ore is incredibly hard as far as you can figure, easily smashing coral, small pebbles, and the head of one idiot too stupid to stay out of the way of the testing zone. If something more flexible than coral could be found, it would be an excellent ranged weapon. Possibly also for normal weapons as well, but the current tools used to extract it are slow and not suited for finer work like well-crafted weaponry or tools.

The Peretics sort of get on with life. Though a few come up with the idea of tying the metal and coral shards together for weapons which are quickly snapped up by the warriors for use. Soon a group of 10 Peretics equipped with these weapons attempt to mob the smallest fish they can find to take it down
Throwing the spears, they eventually pierce a couple through the tail, and carry them back. Not the best place, but it works.

The Triath begin working on designing and manufacturing better tools, armor, and weapons using Ore and coral, a coral mine is set up, and explorer teams continue to search for potential domestic animals and new materials that could be put to use, while others are sent to map the surrounding territory.

The Caerri shall wait for now, focusing their efforts on building the Nematocyst tentacles to protect the main of the colony as well as the extended farms.

10 of the Caerri shall grow the Nematocyst tentacles on themselves, acting as the mobile guard of the The-first-among-equals.

5 Caerri shall study the beasts carefully, so that their forms may be created for later use.

The Kriblits swarm from their den, scouring the floor to find more shell fragments, when five full suits of armor are made a party will go back to the coral of the electric fish, there they will burrow under the ground and repeat the maneuver from before, this time making sure to pull the prey under slowly so as to not attract the attention of the monsters. Hopefully if this works a steady supply of shells and meat will flow into the Kriblit lair.

This insect is obviously combat worthy, for if it can bring down an entire Floatune without flinching.

Have the now returned warriors use their spears to force it into the holding pin. If any casualties occur, kill the beast and put it in the warehouse.

Back at the village....

Some Floatune get to work carving 1/4 of the bone harvested from the fish into a set of objects. Many are carved into tiny, about 3x the size of a tooth, cylinder shaped objects, with one end having a large, flat area. Others are carved into much larger, about the size of personal spear, but shorter, objects, with the end shaped in a sphere with two flat sides. The first object shall be called "connect", and the second type of object will be called a connector. Using the connector, connects will be wedged into objects to connect them instead of using the much weaker teeth.

The scales shall be used to construct personal armor, 10 sets for now, using connects to create overlapping scales. These shall be given to the personal spear wielders. Some of the other scales will be used to decorate the whole village, to commemorate this achievement. The rest will be put in storage.

A scouting party, armed with nothing to be swift, is to locate another location for a village. Our village grows too big for the Kelp Tree, and we may gain the attention of unwanted visitors.
