Game in development - require talented people! (SSX)
« on: March 04, 2011, 10:11:24 am »

Hello, OG.
One of my friends and the head of the community I am in has been working on a game for about a year now. It has reached the point where it is solid and can be considered totally functional.

The premise is that it's set on a space station, much akin to the setting of SS13, but more stable, better gameplay and better features. There's not really much else to add about the setting and what you will be able to do, because that's pretty much open right now. Our community members have been throwing ideas at us but so far it's been about making a good foundation to build the rest of the game on.
You can see a tiny glimpse into the game here.

He wants to start adding elements and all the bells and whistles that'll make it a game worth playing, but we currently have no one available who can actively create tiles/sprites and artwork for the game. This is where we've hit a snag that pretty much doesn't allow us to continue.

This brings us to the purpose of this thread. We currently have essentially no artists available to create new tiles, and also a new UI design. My first incentive was to ask B12, as this place is great for anything.
We cannot pay anyone for anything, as this project is totally done in spare time and isn't being made for any kind of monetary gain. It will be free, and will always be free. We will give credit to people who have created resources that are used in the game, but aside from that, there isn't too much that can be offered other than aiding a very competent programmer who's making a very competent looking game that will be ace when it's complete.

If you are interested, then the guy making the game (Catdaemon) is available in the irc channel #meteornet on the GameSurge network.

Deon will make your game look too sexy, people will have trouble playing it from having to constantly change their pants.

The lighting already looks pretty decent. My only qualm is that characters do not seem to effect it at all. Overhead lights should hast small shadows, while a flashlight etc. should cast long shadows from characters.

I have made very dumb looking placeholder tiles for Dwarfed. If you need placeholders, that is. Can you sort of give a list of how many tiles you need?

Is this game using sprites or vectors? This isn't in Byond right?

EDIT: Also, I would love to see this game finished. It looks like a sweet improvement over SS13 . After completion are you planning on making variations on this sort of game? (I.E. medieval fantasty, or something else...)

Hello.

Damn, I really have to start making diploma... Speaking of which I will still slack a lot, and I find more satisfying to make anything rather than to spend my time on blackjack and whores!

I am using the deon at the moment.
You can have him when I am finished.

Also wow, a smooth movement with lighting! Man I so love this style. I am very interested!

Contact me on this matter, I need 1-3 days to finish all remaining Prospector sprites and add new ones which are not in the game yet, and I will be quite free :).

Good news that I was working on tile redesign for SS13 for head, so it's almost ready. It includes darker floors/walls as well as other stuff. Not so bright and shiny. Should work well for old parts of the station or some darker plotlines.
