The problem with making them weapons material is that they have very little in the raws for them. The only weapon/armor data they have is density, so for everything else, it would be a similar situation to the max edge of glass. Even if all other values are set to zero, they night still make a poor quality blunt weapon. Clay hammers it is!

That's why you make a custom reaction for a custom material that is the material that the ceramic blades are made of on the last page and make that makeable into weapons and armor.

Take a page from history and give another piece of ammo to catapults. Take one clay pot, fill with oil, top with one piece cloth. Load in catapult. Launch at enemy horde. Watch explosion from burning oil. Profit!
Hmm well could one instead make a new ballista ammo that effectively shoots a fireball? Or do something similar to catapults?

Incorrect. They use the stone template.

It's a pity we can't add venoms to ceramic jugs, then load them into a catapult to fling at invaders.

So where do I get a ceramics armor and weapons mod from already? *wonders who is to blame for this lack of mod*

Hmm, I suppose changing

to

in inorganic_other MIGHT work. Probably not but you can still try.

EDIT: hmm nope that doesn't work, unless you change [USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:STONE_TEMPLATE] to[USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:METAL_TEMPLATE].

What if we just made a reaction where you make 'weapons grade ceramics' or something?

IDK what it should be called, but that's what I would do.

Actually, ceramics is so brittle that making weapons out of it would be stupid. Maybe cermix arrow heads?

I guess ceramic knives/arrowheads would be best.

Even knives would sucks: you cannot parry with them, and they would break easily on any piece of armor.

Sounds a lot like the problems you'd face with obsidian weapons. >.>
Any way this would be a more for funsies thing I imagine so we can toss those concerns in the same bin as the ones for dwarven water reactors, unquenchable lignite in fire proof bins and other such oddities.

There are ceramics kitchen knives IRL. Except if you're fighting the dreaded Tomato People, they won't help you in DF.

As for Obsidian Weapons, they actually are chips of obsidian set into a wooden handle. I guess you could do the same with ceramics.

P.S. Of course, this whole discussion is assuming we're forgetting that IRL ceramics knives are made up or a special, high-tech kind of ceramics, that dwarves cannot reproduce at their tech level.
