Pots?
« on: February 17, 2011, 05:52:03 am »

Anyone know what pots do? I've made two, and both are still stuck in their workshops. Are they furniture or finished goods?

As I understand it, jugs are like buckets, and large pots are like barrels.

Okay, but which stockpiles are they stored in?

Jugs are stored in finished goods.  I haven't gotten any large pots yet, but I'll make some shortly to see.

Upon further testing, I have no idea what either of them do, except that they're stored with finished goods and likely need to be glazed first.  Now, to find out how to glaze...

they only need to be glazed if they are earthenware
You need ash or cassiterite, then you can glaze them at a kiln

My craftdorf shops are full up with -large limestone pot-... Do I need to do something with these first? You can't glaze pots, so I cant even do that. I've got plenty of space in my stockpiles, and plenty of haulers...

Have you tried furniture or food stockpiles?  They're supposed to behave exactly like barrels, aren't they?

All of my attempts at making large pots resulted in them getting stored and ignored, or left in the workshop and ignored.  My dwarves did not use them at barrels, even tho no barrels were free.

They got stored? Where? I must know.

The first nest box I made got instantly picked up, moved to a food stockpile and then ignored, I cannot do anything with it and if I try to build it tells me I have no nest box. When I made a second one though, I could build it. I can't use any of the large pots I've made, they're being stored/ignored the same way as the first nest box. I wonder if there's some sort of associated bug here...

I'm seeing this as well. All my Large earthenware pots are being left abandoned in my magma kiln. Going to see if glazing makes them move.

Edit: nope. Now I just have a bunch of large, glazed earthenware pots in my magma kiln.

Update: After about year one of my pots has been taken and used to store turkey meat. Maybe it's a low priority assignment or something.

I made a bunch of pots, and ONCE one was used to store some sugar, but I still get plenty of 'no available barrel" and food not stored in containers when I have plenty of unused pots. I think they are bugged.

They work fine for me. Heck, they seem to be able to hold more than barrels can.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And that's just one pot.
