The GRAZER tag works on playable creatures.  If you give it to dwarves, they can eat grass, but will not eat normal food, even berries.

They will eat nearby grass, but will not leave meeting areas and the like to seek it out, so you can easily end up starving all your dwarves.

Playable cattle are next.  They cannot perform any actions due to lack of thumbs, their only method of defense is grazing.

it seems this made harvesting cave spider silk about 80 times easier. i embarked with 10 cave spider pets (a nice, cheap way to get metal cages, by the way) and shortly after embark, while my dwarves were hauling stuff to the new stockpile, and trying to figure how to get their animals into the pens i assigned them, everything around the wagon started getting bitten by cave spiders

i built one spider cage in a room away from the main fort, had the other 9 assigned to it, and while all the spiders stayed in the cage, the room was swarmed with spawning spiders and massive amounts of silk...that the two cats i had loved to rip through, if the weaverdwarf wasn't fast enough

Nice catch!
Well, we were warned, vaguely, of fun "seizure inducing evil grass", or something to that effect. I would definitely freak out if grass blinked at me. Not sure if I'd call it a seizure, though.

All this is awesome, I might add.

??? Can I get more details on this? is this about vermin spawning more (wild) vermin? Or just attracting more? What is this?

That is really interesting.  I don't think vermin (used to) reproduce, they just pop in environs that support them.  (Like SUBTERRANEAN_WATER or SUBTERRANEAN_CHASM for cave spiders.)

If you can attract vermin by having vermin in cages, well—

Open question: if you have e.g. a gray squirrel in a cage, will it attract red squirrels as well?  Will it attract orioles?
