Nothing, because I haven't built a trade depot yet. I'll do that later...Probably after my single miner-dwarf finishes carving out my entire fortress.

I start by spelling "Horizon" correctly, then I ignore them because I've already bought bears from them and replaced them with giant cave spiders.

Tell my dwarves to bring a single mug to the trade depot.  If the elves actually have anything I want to buy (wood, or sunberries), a single masterpiece mug should be enough in trade.  If they actually brought anything really valuable (ooh, mated pair of giant eagles?), I'll just seize it.

Make sure the cistern above my depot is filled with water and that I have a dwarf handy to pull the lever.

Let them in, steal their stuff and then attempt to dump them down my, rather hit and miss, drawbridge hole trap (which actually ends up in a random corridor in my fortress about five levels down). Most things suffocate on their own ruptured lungs after that fall. That corridor is covered in vomit and blood and random items....

The only worthwhile things they bring are occasional good animals (all of which are bested by a single dwarf in steel armour, so pointless really), cloth (have loads of it), leather (useless), and food/drink (already have too much).

At this stage I either just let them leave or have a direct drop to the magma sea because I hate the dumping of all their useless crap after killing them.

Add their corpses to the row of elven skeletons atop the gate walls.

Heave a sigh of relief, because the clothiers are all standing around idle and the booze is running low.

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

I place bets on what order they will die to the herds of skeletal camels before I send my military out to secure their corpses for looting.

Trade with them, of course.

Sure, I already have thousands of units of both food and booze, but more can't hurt.

And maybe they'll surprise me with something else that I needed.

I look on the units list to see what exotic creatures they have for me. I buy their cloth and sell my excess cut large gems.

You do not understand the ways of Toady One. He is not a business, he's just a guy trying to make a fun game. He's invited people to come along and experience the journey with him (and help him test it out as he goes along). At the end of the day, I don't think his main goal is to sell Dwarf Fortress, its just to create the best game possible.
