I just noticed: Taricus is... late on an action.

What has the me come to?

Oh thank the stars abov- Oh er... That's too bad. Shucks, I guess we'll have to wait a little.

I would rather not be a pile of ashes. Grenades kill people, in case you did not know.

Well, judging by the rolls of the immortals that are carrying you, you should be most of the way out of the blast radius. Unless Ash overshoots her range that is.

The alternative is fighting us with no free will of your own as a mindless slave.

A fate worse than death.

They'll want him alive when they eat him. No, wait... Wrong dystopian sci-fi universe.
They've been trying to cut a deal with you, talking to you, the immortals- and thus the Father by extension- want something. Something they couldn't get by dragging you screaming an brain plugging you.

Hell, if that had been the case I would have had triple the number in the escort show up, sending you on a bracing romp through the dirty maintenance corridors while you fled for your lives. They're trying to salvage the situation, and right now James is their best shot.

They're salvaging quite poorly, aggroing all of James' friends. They turned a "okay, we might backstab you and might help you" relation into "I hope you die in a fire" relation.

They have the ability to improvise equivalent to that of a particularly bright cocker spaniel. James made no move to resist when they asked if he was ready to go, so, technically speaking, they didn't actually break the truce first. Hence the reason they didn't start by setting some men to lie in wait for you.

Yeah, how were they to know that he was unconcious and incapable of answering. If he was in such a state, he should have said something! That's the lines I reckon they were thinking along.

If that's what they were thinking, then I have a feeling that they wouldn't have the ability to improvise like a "particularly bright cocker spaniel"... Considering they had to drag him down a long hallway. Unless their brains are massively lopsided in that respect.

They were given a directive, take you guys on a nice little tour. You delayed, thus sticking the tiny portion of their brain dedicated to independent thought in the same spot with nothing to do but request status updates. Considering the fact that the answer changed (from "No" to "..." the part of their brain capable of deciding what to do chose to interpret that as a positive.

They are biosuits, they are not geared for exhaustive or abstract thought.

Imagine that the particular cocker spaniel in question wants a ball, you tell him he can't have the ball, then you leave the room. The cocker spaniel (unless rigorously trained otherwise) will then proceed to ask (in the way of dogs) to have the ball. If you do not actively say no then the cocker spaniel will take the ball and go play, happy that you have 'decided' to give it the ball.

So they're lopsided.

Well... damn. So we could have avoided shooting eachother if we had just talked.

Goddammit I have fell into the same trap I'm always against going into in real life. Balls.

I am such a bad leader. So bad.

So they're lopsided.

Very much so, they rely almost entirely on the memory of their host and implanted memories to find places and do things. With the correct memories the Immortal could rebuild a fusion generator's radiation sink, and yet still be perplexed at whether to turn left or right down an unknown corridor.

The conclave is the result of freedom of choice, The Father would not make that mistake again.

Of course this design also opens weaknesses, weaknesses that I hope you will realize and exploit.

So, hide in a vent they don't know about and throw grenades to kill all of them?

Pretend that we're different people and that we've got candy to confuse them?

And move their guns from one room to another to confuse them and get rid of their ability to fight?

I didn't mean taking it from their hands, I meant taking it from one of their weapon racks or something.

Still, you made a good mental image.

Taric checked through the biosuit project files, as well as looking through the reports for any other weapons research.
