Advancing down a dark hall in front of two guys who can't see down it is a very bad idea.

Quite Right, changed

Personally I don't think any actions you or Tarran have made in the last couple of turns fall under the heading of "good idea".

At least they were better than standing in front of people who are shooting their guns but can't actually see anything.

Hump Bump.

Do not Hump the thread.

Family in town, little sister's birthday tomorrow, spent today celebrating (All family birthdays are moved to the nearest weekday). Didn't really get a lot done, on any front.

On the plus side the new Ghibli isn't bad.

I'll see if I can get some work done here after I finish up the turn for CoM, but it ain't gonna happen tonight. Going to do the maintenance work on the RTD's and the prepare for Monday.

Damnit man, I'm procrastinating here!

In all actuality I really should have done this a while ago. The turn for CoM is finished, I've just spent the last day and a half agonizing over the damn thing. (My excuse for sunday is volunteer work) Just having to deal with the part of me that wants to go over and over again until my work resembles a bunch of edits.

I'll see what I can do tonight. My spring break starts next Saturday though, so all my professor's are doing their damned best to schedule tests for every day of next week.

Spoiler: Initiative (click to show/hide)

Tarran Smith

"Dammit! I missed!"

Aim to the right this time, at leg height.

Swearing as the expensive round careens off into nothingness you adjust your aim to about knee height, hoping that they're carrying James instead of dragging him. [Improbable aiming skills 1: Horrible event] [Quickshot 2+1-3-1, Ricochet 4-1] (James Barrier -13, James Armor - 8) The sabot bursts out of the rifle, the rightward bent of your shot a little too pronounced. The errant sabot strikes the wall of the corridor, shattering into a cloud of shrapnel that sprays down the corridor, striking sparks at random until one particularly large chunk strikes something in the middle of the corridor, sending up an unusual flare of light as it hits.

---

Immortal Skirmisher 1, 2, and 3

The group of Immortals breaks formation, the encumbered skirmishers tilting forwards into a steady jog, leaving the snipers behind. [Dexterity 5, 3, 4] The three man carry is neither graceful or as fast as they could be individually, but it still serves to put a good amount of distance between them and the sniper group.

---

Immortal Sniper 1

The snipers are in no hurry, panic fire by those that can barely see them isn't the kind of thing that can damage their calm. Kneeling in the middle of the corridor the sniper carefully sets its sights on the one with the large rifle, waiting for the moment when it decides to peak out again.

(Sniper 1 is aimed in)

---

Ashley Fey

Ashley Tries Using her Javelin Implants instead

You snarl in frustration as you re-sling the compact assault rifle, it was a useful tool, but not for this. Stepping out of cover for a moment you extend you arm, setting the beam focus out as far as it will go. [Quickshot 1] [Luck 2] The implant fails to do anything.
You step back behind cover with a curse, and run an internal diagnostic to see what the hell went wrong. The internal thermal shutoff has been tripped, the implant is automatically re-routing through the redundant circuit but it's going to take a minute.

---

Immortal Snipers 2 and 3

The two immortal snipers that had not already sunk to a kneel did so, locking heavy rifles into their shoulders and seeking targets. If the creatures could be said to be possessed of such human emotions, it might be said that they were amused by the fact that their targets had chosen to back light themselves.

---

Harry Nakamuno, Jordan Grey

Harry slides all the way back under the protection of the wall, giving his own short range weapon a look of frustrated disgust. "This isn't going to work Fey,"Harry hissed as he reloaded. "They already sniped me once, it'd be foolish to think they aren't going to give us another salvo. We're outclassed at this range."
Jordan takes another shot down the corridor, [Quickshot 1-3] [Luck 4] missing wildly and burning nothing but wall. "I can't but agree," Jordan says as he ducks back under cover. "The original plan was to take them by surprise and drop a handful of grenades on them, not dangle our well lit asses in front of them."

---

Dominique Wakeman

Being left to her own devices, Dom was starting to get curious. How much, exactly, could Taric ignore while working on something? Was he really so oblivious to the outside world when he had a computer at hand that he wouldn't notice anything? She'd done a lot of work on him with her medkit, stitching up his wounds, applying gauze, basically sorts of stuff that had her touching and poking him in various places, and he hadn't even spared her a glance. The medkit was running low on supplies, and Smith had probably gotten himself injured, so she'd save the last for him.

That left her with a mischievous mood and not much to do other than try to get Taric's attention, just to see if it was possible. He'd ignored (poorly done) medical procedures, he'd ignored talking... the only other things she could think of trying were violence and inappropriate behavior. Considering she had just spent the better part of the last ten minutes working on his wounds, she wasn't eager to be opening them back up so quickly. That meant there was only one option left if she wanted to test his limits.

...Still, she didn't want to be doing anything weird while Jake was in the room. Her curiosity would just have to wait. He was still absorbed in his work, so she'd have to wait to find out what he had found out. She went back into the tunnel for the moment and explored it a bit to see if she could find any other exits.

Left with nothing to do and nothing actually trying to kill you -a rarity- you are forced to decide between a pseudo strip-tease to see if Taric even qualifies as human male when he's on the computer, and exploring in the dark. The deciding factor is Jake, you're not exactly comfortable even fake stripping in front of him, he still seems to think you're some para-military force that's going to save him and the other survivors. Being quite that inappropriate in front of him might cause his traumatized mind to drop a cog.
Deciding on exploration you prepare to swing your way down back into the maintenance shaft, the doors in this room are either weird and glowy, or lead to this guy's bedroom. It might be worth looking into later, but right now you don't care.
As you reach the lip of the shaft Jake suddenly looks away from the hypnotizing display of lights that Taric is working with. "Hey," he says somewhat helplessly, "What do I do?"
You shrug. "Don't touch the door, make sure Taric keeps breathing." With that you drop back into the shaft, letting your eyes get used to the blackness as you look about with other senses. The iris is totaled, crawling back through it might be possible, but the jagged metal would certainly make it painful. The reserve iris is still inactive, and there's one ceiling hatch that you haven't explored yet.
Then of course there is the ladder that Jake talked about, leading down into the maintenance deeps.

Taric Sizier

Start reading those reports. Whetever is in them must've been important to have that level of security.

You summon the reports file up and unfold it, exhaling in slow surprise at the sheer size of the thing. There are terabytes of information here, video, audio, and an ocean of plain text. Like the personnel files it seems to include the names of everyone who worked on the base, plus associated projects, videos of them, pages of notes, and their associated projects.
You run a few mental calculation based on the size of the file, the number of names, the average report size, and the vids... [int 4+1] Assuming you were able to stay awake and at top reading speed twenty-four/seven it would take about a month to finish this file. You need something specific, something concrete to start with... Dom had been saying something earlier, what had it been?
[int 3+1] The ident card, she had been talking about the ident card you had. Smiling to yourself you withdraw the card from your pocket, indexing the massive report file for Pyotr Ivanov.

James Evan

"OK, how about this. I'm more familiar with the situation than you are, so I take control so we can destroy the black and then maybe you can try to get yourself your own body or something since obviously this isn't going to work out." Try to negotiate.

The situation is dangerous. You don't feel at all right inside, your other half seems to be almost fine, and there's something that appears to be eating your mind  coming to get you. Time to make a deal. [Diplomacy 3 Vs Will 2]
She appears stunned by the terms. "My own body?" she asks, incredulity mixed with wonder.
You shrug, it seems a reasonable enough thing to offer. You aren't exactly sure how it's going to work, but killing her seems to be long odds at this point, getting her out though, that could work. "Your own body. Though that does assume that we aren't both killed beforehand."
She looks at you suspiciously, though you probably deserve that considering the last time you made a deal it only lasted as long as it took to run away. At long last she nods. "My own body, a woman. Fit.  Swear on it and I'll help you, you try to get out of it and I'll rip your intestines out of your ass."

Dominique considered the choices. Moving too far away on her own didn't sound like a good idea, but maybe the other ceiling hatch would lead to a room that she could get out of. Then she could find Tarran and Ash's crew and bring them back here to talk to Jake. Sounds good to me. Dom opened the hatch and poked her head up to look around; if clear, she would enter the room.
