I was about to make a post on this one.


Now, who's the one singing it? I'm usually thinking it's Celestia, which gives it a very different flavour than if it is, for example, Luna.

Yeah, I was wondering that too. The first part makes it seem like Celestia, but then...

But the chorus reinforces it being a duet.

Anyone figure out what Pinkie's rock farm... actually does?  In regards to contribution to Equestria?

I'm assuming they grow rocks there, considering it's a rock farm and all.

Not really. It is ... close to a mineral, but lacks the crystalline properties of glass minerals, as well as being too complex for a single composition.

I prefer this version, myself. The dubstep parts are bleh but otherwise superior to the original, imo.

Trixie and Dash both have huge egos and like showing off, but the difference is Dash doesn't look down on other people when she "beats" them at something. Trixie does.

Eh, I suppose the idea just randomly popped up in my mind.  No consideration/thought behind that.

So if its an Obsidian farm...  I suppose I could find a pony certified use for it... or something.  If it needs volcanic heat... eh...  thats harder to explain and I might want to look for something more... explainable/fitting.

It is cold, it has been for as long as any pony remembers.  There once was a time when it wasn't, at least that is what the legends say.  How do we keep ourselves from freezing to death?  Our natural thick fur coat, coke and dragons.

We mine for coal, which we convert to coke for heating.  Mining coal in Equestria is a dangerous job in comparison to gem mining as most coal is found very deep underground.  Due to the unique hazards of working in the coal mining industry, most ponies do not work for more then a few years in the mines.
 
A typical workforce includes in part a large number of earth ponies to do the digging, carting, tunneling and construction.  Unicorn ponies have the important job of detecting poisonous air that frequently builds up in the mines, along with detecting coal seams and sorting the coal from the dirt and rocks once dug up.  Once poisonous air is found, a team of pegasi pony, PACERS (Pegasi Air Control Ensuring Required Safety), on standby are called in to clean it up, absorbing the poison into clouds and releasing it in relative safety outside.  Pegasi not part of PACERS work with the earth ponies in the mines, but very few
Often times, Diamond Dogs and Young Dragons are employed to dig out coal, their production out-put many times above that of any pony with proper tools, their specialized services cost a hefty sum of gems.  Most mines are underponied, lacking in the earth ponies

Coal in its base form can also be used for heating, but it is against the Queen's law.  After just a century of burning coal, a great smog formed over all of Equestria.  The skies were blackened, blocking sight of the stars and moon and the thick smog sickened many the many Pegasi ponies who lived in the clouds.  It had taken three centuries to clear the smog out of the skies of Equestria.

Now, for dragons, a very small number of towns and cities have built elaborate cave systems with heating vents to house sleeping dragons.  The natural heat they generate can be used to heat hundreds of pony homes for as long as the dragon sleeps there.  For dragons that generate smog in their sleep, the ponies capture all of that and hand it over to the Pegasi to safely de-smogify and extract what little heat is from it.

To attract these dragons, preparation is made over the years to amass gems and create suitable bedding for them.  Gems are a favorite food item of dragons.  Their bedding is made of metals, such as gold, silver, and platinum and must be replaced for the next dragon as they would not sleep in used bedding, even if one little gold coin was accidently left behind.
What they want to tell you is that the shine of these precious metals help the dragons sleep, but if you ask me, thats a load of parasprites and we just don't know why they choose that over everything else.  Picky dunderheads.

Today we will talk about gems and its many uses in Equestria.

Sapphire, topaz and rubies can be enchanted by Unicorn magic to provide lighting, vital to plant growth in our underground farms.  The other gems of course could be used as sources of light, but we have found that those 3 together give the best results.

While that is the case for underground plants, plants on the surface can survive in the moonlight, but not grow.  Enchanted sapphire and topaz are used to encourage growth of surface plants.  Though, only plants that can withstand the cold will stand a chance above ground.


Note #1: Emeralds, rubies, topaz, sapphire, amethyst and diamonds.  (Rhodolite for purple?  any better suggestions?)
Note #2: There seems to be 7 colors of gems in the show... blue, red, pink, green, purple, orange and white.  I'm just gonna associate topaz with orange.

I don't really buy the trollestia interpretation. Rather, I think she was just being careless.

Which isn't necessarily better (in fact probably worse) since she's in a leadership position.

Honestly at that age you should not have to knowingly take such a test as that. Stuff like that is a little to much pressure to knowly set on a person that young.
