I visited a car factory today. Who knew industrial robots would be so creepy when they work? Constant mechanical whining, movement completely alien to a human limb and sparks flying everywhere. They're certainly not the humble, docile machines they're presented as in media.
They're also pretty terrifying if you see one coming towards you. Those things can instantaneously smash every bone in your body.

I have these via sitting around in my watch later list for a while, only now on my realizing I probably ignored them subconsciously because I knew they would likely be pants shittingly terrifying.
I knew the Japanese legal systems bad, but I had no idea it was this absolutely atrocious.  And just the very idea of the world for your thoughts can be subject things like fees and copyright and loans, and a general terms of service…is basically the absolute worst that capitalism has to offer.

Saw the new It film.  I enjoyed it, but didn't find it scary at all.

What did get me a bit is we brought one of our kids along.  On the way back, he came out about an apparition he used to see at the last place we lived that he called "No No Girl".  His description sounded dead on like a Yurei straight out of an asian horror film.  A girl in a white dress with long, black hair, dead white eyes, and lower jaw that gaped down to her chest.  Apparently he would see this thing once in a while glaring at him.  We all had weird experiences at that place and I knew that something had bugged the kids, but this is the first time either of them had ever come out and described anything.  Came home and asked my other kid if he'd ever seen the same thing.  Apparently, he regularly saw it too and it was something they both understood and dealt with between each other.  But they never told adults, because they felt like it would get more aggressive if they did.  Was glad to hear that neither of them has seen this in the past year since we moved.

Police informed the Dutch media today, that 3 months ago, they arrested a 19 year old boy, and he has been in police custody since.
He is being charged with rape of a 12 year old, sexual offence with a 13 year old, posession of child pornography, and approaching dozens of other children via sexually themed chats.

With the search of his appartment, over 900 child pornographic photos were found, and 170 videos made with his telephone, of 40 to 45 different girls, some as young as 8 years.
Police are very busy trying to identify the girls in the videos, and they cannot rule out the possibility that more sexual offences have been committed.

The 19 year old contacted most girls via Snapchat and Skype, and talked them into removing their clothes for the camera. Then he would later contact the girls, and threaten to publish the photos online if they did not perform sexual acts with him.

Police are further investigating over 300 chat contacts he has on Snapchat and Skype, and cannot rle out the possibility of more victims that were not on the found photos or videos.

Terrifying. How do you protect children from this new world of online threats? Especially children as young as 8 (or younger)?

Good that they caught this bastard though. Only 19. Imagine the amount of victims he could have made if he hadn't been caught.

His lawyer actually had the audacity to demand him to be released pending trial, because he was still going to school, and stressed that a substantial part of the offences occured while he himself was still a minor. She asked the prosecution whether it could legally be called grooming if two minors seduce each other into sending naked pictures.
The prosecution replied that the rape of the 12 year old and the sexual offence with the 13 year old definitly occured when the subject was already an adult. "This goes way beyond grooming" They added.

The judge told him that "these are serious offences and society could be very shocked if we were to release you". So he remains in custody.

Err ._. call my outdated in technology, but the only telephone I picture is...
And something unrecognized by the some of the youth of today. .-.

Also why or how would he even be released with all that evidence? Isn't that past the age of minority?

'Telephone' and 'mobile phone' are used synonimously over here. Mostly by old folks such as I though, the youngsters just call it 'mobile'.

And ofcourse no one in their right mind would release this guy with all the evidence found. Which is why I called it 'audacity'. Dunno what got into that lawyer's head to even think of trying that.

Telephone tends to be for the house phone, for mobiles it's usually just "phone."

Yeah, we don't have such an abbreviation for telephone in Dutch. 'Foon' is not a word.

In Sweden we used the "mobile" part of it as a shorthand.
