what if we just hang a magnet from the hood, in front of the engine block, to pull it forward

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I still think I prefer piratecar.

Why not just install a rowing machine to power your piratecar with a bottom-deck full of rowers?

I like this idea. We could start handing out community service sentences like candy and make criminals run pedal powered city galleybuses. They aren't directly spinning the wheels though, the driver still has full control, and changes gears as needed.

In the same toy vein, we could rebuild all of our roads as slotcar tracks and make all new cars be slotcars. That's how you "solve" the endurance problem on electric cars, right?

They've built a terrifying monstrosity that constantly spews lethal dihydrogen monoxide out the back of the vehicle.

I'm not terrified with this but anyway it's this.

If you are paranoid with that, dump your hard disc into something that melts something like ceramic and steel(blast furnace is recommended) or turn it into fine grain, buy a random computer from a random store (no, don't ask to send it to your home) and don't connect to the internet or with any USB items.
The side effect is erasing everything inside into oblivion, so that one hard disc will not be back because it's molten and shared with all the great liquid stuff. Perfect if you wanna destroy every data inside that one hard disc.

What's lethal is probably it's heat. Add with the fact that hot hydrogenic things(something like water etc.) could heat things to the point of ignition to the mix*. Bam*.

I honestly have immense respect for both the guys that designed Stuxnet and the guys who broke it down. It's serious Hollywood-level stuff.

So anyway, in actual terrified news, the university fee protests are basically over. Except in the place where they started, where people are destroying textbooks and setting fires.

Shootout, and what might've been a pursuit by the police after someone happened, and ended, right outside this very building. Loads of shots and car noises, and now there are a bunch of police cars (and more coming, as well as an ambulance if I hear it right) isolating the area while pretty much the whole neighbourhood is converging at the scene. Holy shit.
