Oh, I saw that thing ages ago.

My immediate reaction was "why is the page scrolling without my permission?" before I noticed the whole horror lady thing. Even then I didn't get a scare.

It's supposed to scroll on it's own?

I uh.... guess that would have made it a little scarier. I had to manually scroll it down so I thought maybe I missed the point (I guess I sort of did).

I found it startling, but not scary. In the same way someone tapping you on the shoulder from behind is. Then again, that's 90% of jumpscares.

It amazes me how the addition of music can change a game from "Awesome, if a little dated" to "incredibly terrifying".

Having always played Quake without the music, I didn't really get what people were on about. But then I finally found out a way to mount an image of the music CD while playing an emulated version, such as the Steam release or the downloadable shareware version.

I never realized that music could be threatening. Just the tiniest little bass thrum can change the entire mood of the game. It changes the game from "pop-scare, blood-n-guts" scary to actually rather disquieting and nerve-wracking.

However much id Software paid Trent Reznor for the music, it was money well-spent.
