So after a lot of pestering from friends, I recorded a ten minute video of me playing Dead Space. The last five minutes are me crying and trembling from RAWR JUMP SCARE.

They might make you Shit you pants but 5 minutes crying in agony is the thing you'd expect from slender.

Someone unexpectedly rounding a corner will do it, so Dead Space was obviously a bad idea.

I think only about the first 15 minutes or so of dead space were really scary for me. After that the jump scares started to get pretty predictable.

For some reason when I'm alone horror games don't scare me. I played Dead Space completely alone and wasn't scared through the whole thing. Same story with FEAR. But if I have another person with me then the game scares me. I played the Dead Space 2 demo alone and it didn't scare me, then i watched a friend and it scared the shit out of me. Only problem is when you're alone no one can verify that you weren't scared.

To be honest, I played Slender, and I just sorta went "Well, this is it? Oh noz, static appearing oh i'm dead"

SCP Containment Breach is more effective in setting the scene and providing legitimate terror.

I've only played dead space 3, but in that, I found it hilariously easy to predict when an enemy would come at me from behind.

'Oh look, human remains storage, and they didn't break open. Looks like I'll be ambushed from behind...'

Yeah, it was kind of like that. I'd see the body of an alien sitting in the middle of a corridor I had just been through that wasn't there the last time I came through... Or you'd walk past some ventilation shafts, or something like that. It might have worked once or twice, but it became really obvious where they were setting you up for a jump scare.

No, we just fail to be jump scared when we know when the jump is coming.
