Watching videos of people playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent right now.

Now, I love the horror genre. Still looking for a genuinely scary survival horror shooter right now. One that doesn't focus on shock, gore, etc. [Dead Space, I'm looking at you]. [Any recommendations?]

Hell, horror movies? Sure. Books? Hell yes.

...Ugh, I don't think I'm ever playing Amnesia. Hell, I can barely watch the videos [because of the people's reactions, actually].

*Continues watching* ...What? I enjoy fear.

Reminds me of Lone Survivor, sitting in my library. I hear it's a great game, not that I'll ever know.

Lone Surviver is as scary as a tomato. It's also one of the worst games I've ever played :p.

I never thought Lone Survivor was outright scary, but it reminded me fondly of Silent Hill in terms of the atmosphere it creates. I mean, I can barely handle most horror games, but while Lone Survivor wasn't scary it made up for by setting a good atmosphere and being somewhat creepy.

I've been watching TotalBiscuit's Amnesia "Halloween Special" thing.

In five second bursts.

Is there a phobia for "fear of Amnesia: The Dark Descent" ?

Watching? Why not play it, way more fun that way. Sadly the game didn't do it for me, I must not scare easily. Jumped back in surprise once or twice, but no terror or anything. Sucks.

I found Amnesia meh. It just isn't scary for me. I was very disappointed by it.

Almost nothing scares me, either. Probably because pretty much every "horror" game I've played focuses on shock and jump scares and gore and such [Dead Space, I'm looking at you.]. Eh, everyone reacts to games in their own way.

Perhaps I actually do have a phobia, or something like that, and something in the game triggers it? *Shrugs*

F.E.A.R did a good job for me.  No jump scares that I can remember, just a VERY creepy little girl.  And a creepy guy.

Closest thing I can think of is Silent Hill 2, but that's not quite a "shooter".  Still the scariest game I've every played that is atmospheric.

Games that rely on shock or jump scares can go screw themselves (Resident Evil and Doom 3, I'm looking at you).

We must have played different games called F.E.A.R. The one I played was chock-full of jump scares. Some were actually pretty good, but jump scares they were.

I cannot play any scary games. At all. They are all so terrifying to me because it feels like I'm right there and trapped in this horrific situation.

My biggest scare jump ever was in Morrowind but horror games are just bland to me. It's like they try too hard, so my brain keep being rational.
