That... thing. That is a spider infected with cordyceps, a fungus that eats away at its hosts flesh and produces those strange growths. Some strains have been known to infect the hosts brain and alter its behavior, causing it to find a place to die that the parasite will find optimal to reproduce in.

It is a fucking zombie fungus. IT IS REAL.
